Because Top Gun did it - but also there is a potential likelihood that your sensors fail or laser fails etc.

But more importantly, if you’re desperate for CAS and you realize your enemy doesn’t really have a good field SAM that covers their FLOt like PA does not you might decide to risk it and try dumb bombing.

You could but the majority of stockpiles for IAF(or PaF) are still dumb bombs. There are also a lot of operational restrictions on guided weapons that at times a simple well cued 1000lbr can do just fine.

This Ex Vayu Shat-ki has become a comedy.
There is another clip of Jaguar deploying an LGB. The LGB doesn’t directly hit the target (looks a bit adjacent) but they explode ground charges like in movies or air show to make it look like a massive explosion. And ofcourse timing is off so you can see different explosion.

Modi went to the entity for a reason - weapons purchases was not specifically for Pakistan. They are still considering Pakistan a trail/proving ground for a potential conflict with China.

So if they fail small in Pakistan a few times and then win big - in their minds they will be ready for China.
