Did it know that? How can you be sure? It's not like the ship had a way to detect submarines, modern submarines are absolutely deadly, if you are a lone warship your chances of detecting and surviving against one are already slim and if there is more then one your chances drop down to basically zero.

Yes, probably called back for home defence? The frigate was a relatively newer commissioned model (2021). It had ASW capabilities.

Now how the Americans planned it's sinking is a different issue altogether. The signalling is very clear to Iran by the US "they'll sink Iranian ships anywhere in the world"

True and Diego Garcia is not far. It was a foolhardy trip and Trump is a scum and his defense minister is far worse. They killed head of state so a ship was a roadkill.

That's easy. It's to make you think 10 times the next time. As for the upgrade, 5th gen is a huge deal that guarantees air superiority.

Only a moronic fool would pass on technological upgrades just because they know we have better pilots.
