No.Victor Gao, while not in an official capacity is the mouthpiece of China in the English speaking world, So safe to say his statements are the Chinese Govt outlook.
You don't understand today's China.
China today is full of people like Gao. They are just people who rely on the internet to make money, that's all.
These people, are not at all spokesmen for the Chinese government. Their views are also much different from those of the Chinese government.
Simply put, they are exactly the same as you and me. The difference is that we do not rely on public opinion to make money, they do.
If their speech violates the law, they will be sanctioned by Chinese law just the same. In recent years, China has punished many similarly famous people.
Mr. Gao has also become famous only recently. I guarantee that if we dig deeper into his background, there is a cyber-capital firm behind him pushing for it. Moreover, there is a high possibility that capital forces from the United States or Western countries are pushing him.
