There are certain assurances India has from other nations in assisting in case China intervenes and that entirely decades long wishfulness of “two front” war narrative was to drive to this.
Remember - WW1 was just the assassination jn Austria - it was already multiple hot but somewhat disconnected fronts coming together after that.
WW2 was also disconnected until US joined in and Japan allies with Germany.
Three disconnected fronts could come together
In case of World War One, there were the unsaid/hidden alliances which manifested once the war started. But I have serious doubts about India will get much from the West in case of the 'two front' war happens (Pakistan+China vs India). There are other worries: The Middle East conflict with a potential war against Iran, the Russia-Ukraine war, the potential for China-Taiwan conflict, the budding economic crises in America.
Plus the Western resources to be put into right places and Indians have just demonstrated themselves to be duds again! Americans don't respect duds! We should have noticed a cooling of India-America relations under Biden and under Trump they are, at least as of now, more obvious.
India is on its own! A certain Indian defense forum is even carefully mentioning that not only the Americans are not warm to India but even the Russians are fence-sitters and the Russian bloggers are even pro Pakistan! Modi has really undone decades of Indian diplomatic gains--but, hey, there is at least Israel!
