Why are there people from AJK saying that Pakistan is "occupying" their country then? It is confusing.
Essentially, Azad Kashmiris have a very strong Kashmiri identity and attachment to the Kashmiri independence struggle, one which they partially see as their own despite being linguistically and ethnically different from the Kashmiris of the valley.I have seen protests in places such as the UK, where ajk people have protested saying that Pakistan is "occupying" them and not allowing them to build infrastructure, taking electricity etc. There are some Pakistanis who I have met who say they are from Azad Kashmir, rather than saying they are Pakistani, which to me sounds like they are trying to distance themselves from Pakistan.
Furthermore, Azad Kashmir has been given a great deal of federal autonomy in Pakistan, making it quite a different place to live in general compared to the rest of Pakistan, so it is clear that Azad Kashmiris would have their own distinct identity by which they may also choose to identify.
However it's mostly the self righteous, virtue signalling youthias who make the stupid claims of AJK being "occupied by Pakistan"
