I Really don't think India wants to escalate either. Both sides are stuck in a loop whhere their public wants tit for tat. This could be both of them doing mild attacks to iron things out. I am seeing a very sudden change of tone in India's media (other than Republic). The rest of them are reporting very calmly and have started calling the "escalation between India and Pakistan getting worrying". Maybe this was the offramp that Saudis/Iranians were running around, for.
