Israel may well have encouraged India into doing this, partly to disrupt Pakistan's defence industry as you say and overall capability but also to distract the world with a new war and new headlines while it moves towards its "final solution" for the Gazan citizens.
The Americans may well have encouraged(ie JD Vance) India into this, partly to neutralise Pakistan versus its standoff with China, partly to test Chinese weapons in combat and partially to see if their investment in India has paid off or not or if they need to go back to the drawing board on their approach with India. The USA has invested close to 40 years of economic investment into India to try and build her up as a competitor to China and right now, it looks like that investment is not paying off. India as shown it cannot militarily fight China, and it will not go unnoticed to the USA how very very quiet India has been on recent encroachments in Arunchal Pradesh.
India, however was made to look like global jackasses from this adventure though, so they will be wary about listening to Israel, or the USA until they can be confident of success. The Brahmos is a strategic weakness for Pakistan that India has seen, and India has in this round demonstrated much better precision(runway targetting) than Pakistan has. Fateh is not precise around, it is more area denial than middle of the runway targeting precision capability.
The problem that India has, is that Pakistan's capability will only grow over time as it infused what China is prepared to sell, what Turkey can develop and sell to Pakistan(and Pakistan can afford) and what Pakistan develops itself. So, the catchup is quite difficult for India right now.
Lets see. So many permutations of what is actually going on behind the scenes, versus what has been declared publicly as 'the narrative'.
