Pakistan International Arlines (PIA) : News / Updates

What do you expect him to say? He’s a businessman.

There's a reason all these Tabbas and AKD's and Habib's get called the first instance to Army House and all come along. For most of the conglomerates, it's a fixed backdoor game. The only one I think who tries to stay away from this is Dawood (Engro folks). Most of the rest look forward to a bulawa.

Not to say there's anything inherently wrong in it, certain ground realities of Pakistan warrant that sort of fixed game...but at least call it out for what it is and stop with the "Group wanted Faujis to come, they were begging them!". Again, don't insult people's intelligence man.

Who destroy PIA? Faujis or Political people and babus?

There are charts/graphs out there clearly showing that whenever the political parties--especially the PPP--had some 'say' in the decision making, they really damaged the PIA. Same thing with Pakistan Steel Mills. Going forward, the business community is not going to allow their hard-earned money to be wasted.

There was a meeting in PM house couple of days before bidding with “all” stake holders. And this matter was fixed.

Yes, indeed there are ground realities. But one has to point them out in hope of future improvements.

What amuses me in the lack of ability to look at issues point by point in isolation. Reminds me of that movie idiocracy sometimes.

As you will see now people will take it on a whole different tangent on the history of PIA, while not comprehending the actual point and issue being raised.

Tell me: Why does it matter if the Mr. Habib asked for the military to join in the new arrangement or if the military forced themselves in, when the outcome would be very likely positive for Pakistan?? You are merely guessing and making accusations without a shred of evidence and that's because of the certain political bias you guys bring to every damn thread in this forum!!

Makes sense, FFC removed itself from the bidding process a few days before the bidding itself as well.

Mere bhai, aap bas salute karain aur chup rahain...FM will take care of it all!

Actually what you said is not wrong but in my personal view, I see the difference between what you said and what actually happened as a case of idealism vs. realism.

As I and others have said, if you don't see any wrong with fauji ingresses into all parts of the economy, then what is there to even discuss?

Yeh positive for Pakistan wala choona I've been hearing since I was born, so please spare me that rosy picture.

As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Just going off past precedent for now...I'll get evidence of this soon too, don't worry.

Breatheee...inhale....exhale.

Yes, but maybe the 'fixed' was the 'demand' by Mr. Arif Habib to, quote him, the Establishment's own 'skin in the game'? You have no evidence to back up your claim that the military forced itself in. Do you, beyond your conjectures?? But instead you are accusing an honorable, successful business leader of Pakistan to be basically lying.

That was right after the meeting.

lol. Well, there are exceptions so we can continue and hope that people who can have more nuanced understanding can discuss.

And maybe have you wondered why we are in this reality in the first place?

It's like a mazdoor comes to your house...makes the situation worse, and then he says "Oh, ab to halat itnay kharab hain, aap ko mujhay pooray ghar ka theka dena paray ga warna theek nhn hoga".

Like I said. I don’t want to continue debating this particular matter with you when are ok with “stabilizing guarantees of the military” is all ok. Because it demonstrates that you will not get the specific point I made earlier. So it will become a typical PDF circular argument.

Don’t take me wrong. Just on this matter with respect.

How is it in principle different than “stabilizing guarantees” of a warlord in central Africa.

Have they even seen the regional investment environment. What we are up against to attract business?

Their ability to manage both bureaucratic hurdles and political pressure makes their inclusion an absolute necessity. Right approach by bidders.

Let's imagine being in December 2030: PIA's fleet and its destinations have greatly increased, the drain on Pakistan's resources, including flights taken via Emirates etc, are significantly decreased, there is increased inflows and outflows of people to/from Pakistan due to more direct routes, thus resulting in more tourism and business engagments. Even if half of that materializes, it will be at least a step forward compared with the sorry situation of PIA for the last several decades. But still you won't be able to satisfy some here who would indulge in theoretical debates, all because their of their political bias.
