Pakistan International Arlines (PIA) : News / Updates

Blue World made the sole bid after getting to know 3 days before the actual bid that they are the only one bidding.

Thank you Ishaq Dar.

THE airline charged premium prices. It’s mind blowing this is the level of incompetence.

One of the best airlines from a generation ago now reduced to the worst airline on the verge of bankruptcy.

Subhanallah!

Seems Pak doesent want to sell PIA but was forced to do so by IMF. It now has an excuse in that it wasnt possible to sell.

Just like the privatisation of ptcl, in which 26 % shares and management control was sold, similar approach should be applied for pia privatisation.

It's very difficult for a local company / consortium, in such economic conditions, to come up with such a hefty amount of money.

Less shares with less price albeit proportionally, to the minimum bid offer already calculated.

The servants of the people are willing to bank corrupt this country, in order to save a few thousand jobs, that which were attained with political connections without merit.

How much more millions of dollars does this economy has to lose and the country as a whole has to suffer, before any sensible decision is taken?

Why are protections for jobs and their pensions, and the debt amount, which is huge, the responsibility of the buyer?

Is the private buyer giving charity to the state of Pakistan?

but yes few million rupees spent for the small event with refreshments at the Serena hotel is ok ?

Was there something wrong to do the bidding at the privatisation commission office, and save money ?

PIA exists not to make money, but source of jobs and so called national pride… this is true of some other countries as well.. eg. Bahrains Gulf Air.. which soaks up gov funding.. not profitable but source of jobs and national pride and prestige…

The only way PIA will ever be privatised is the govt sells 51% of it to someone else, retains no control on how it's operated and only keeps a hold of the 49% as a share of profits - up until the agreed sale price is reached.

This way someone can buy it for nothing, invest money into turning it into a profit making business and then eventually buy out it's silent partner (GoP) at a price agreed pre-sale.
