The point is, it should not be regarded as some "diplomatic" or "good will gesture".

Why?

Because then it can be "withdrawn" if "good will" expires.

Hope this is understood and why certain matters should remain above and beyond the remit of international politics.

That's a topographic map of subcontinent. Look what water flow has done to it ( vallies are getting deeper and deeper). But this flow will only increase now. To handle it, we must build massive flood resistant and self cleaning dams to handle floods as well as to irrigate desert areas like Balochistan, Cholistan and Thar ( possible Rajistan too).

This post is directed towards the people in power in Pakistan:
You guys are doing a great job on many fronts. I would like to suggest another area. If we build our irrigation system in Punjab and KPK in a way that we can irrigate the entire Cholistan area and well into the Rajasthan and Thar region. If we build a system that can irrigate the majority of Afghanistan and Balochistan, trust me, with the passage of time we will be an independent, self-sustained food producer in the coming years. This will also bring the kind of strategic edge to Pakistan that is beyond anything we have now.
For strategic minds here, for this to be a viable idea, we need the Wakhan Corridor in the future. Why? Because in the future, when Pakistan might need to stand on its own feet, this piece of land will help us. Not only us, but the whole region, including India. I wrote many things between the lines, as I don't want to give too much information here.
But to get Wakhan, we can trade a small piece of coastal area to Afghanistan and get the Wakhan. In that case, Wakhan will be part of Balochistan, and all earnings from Wakhan ( which will be enormous) will go to Balochistan, and Balochs will administer this region. Afghanistan can be connected to this piece of coastal area through an underground road or a road on the surface. And as always, it's a crazy idea from me. Let me know what you guys say about it. Maybe in some other thread.

Now we are facing two fold problems.
Floods deu to speedy melting of Himalian snow.
Low of no water in non flooding times.
And the solution is, we must take our rivers back so that we can control the flow of water.
We must build the dams so that water may be used all year round.

We are lagging behind these steps by years actually. And I am not sure whether it's a priority or not.

We have faced these issues for decades and done nothing about it. What we need is;

1. Improved guttering in cities, including specific channels designed to deal with large volumes of flood water

2. Hundreds of small dams in the rural areas which fill with water during monsoon season and them empty slowly the rest of the year.

The second suggestion is 100 times more important than the first. It saves crops, it protects cities, it prevents drought, it can encourage agriculture, it improves the water table.

These dams don't have to be big, in the UK we call them reservoirs. They have storage capacity between 2 million to 40 million cubic metres. The UK has over 2000 of these.
