Remember it vividly. Watched the deliveries on TV and even then, something seemed amiss.

Michael Holding, the legendary WI quick and seasoned broadcaster, was close to crying live on camera when asked about this incident.

They were so good. Would have been our next Wasim and Waqar.

yeah, Mohammad Asif was one bowler the batsmen feared, the guy had wildest swings and took em out like a pro, and even young Amir was set to become a great bowler.........but those yrs in jail paid the price, he was not the same again

The fault was on PCB and the team Captain at that time (Salman Butt). What a tragedy, but you can be sure, as usual, the INDIAN bookies network behind it all.

But then again, these days, bowlers are no longer the same.......specially Pakistani bowlers, they just want T20 money and leagues and all........playing test cricket is tough for them or even first-class cricket.
T20 cricket while fun, has ruined cricket and cricketers, turned them into entertainers.

I remember Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib used to toil hard in test cricket, and were greats. A treat to watch always. Amir and Asif were good in their prime and so was Salman Butt, but they ruined it all and the country's reputation badly

and then you have bowlers like naseem shah, shaheen afridi, or others who can barely bowl 2-3 overs before they get exhausted and injured, lol.
