Ideally, it would also be able to add 12 AW101s to replace the Sea Kings for long-range SAR, AShW, ASW, SOF, and Marines operations. Granted, this package would be costly ($1 billion-plus), but the PN could approach it in small batches of 3-4 over the long term.

Indeed, in particular few more replenishment tankers on cards.

PN recently inducted 5th MPA & also PN have 6 Z9Cs.

PN could really do with a brand new fleet of medium sized helicopter

they should seriously consider the Naval Z-18 or even the wide body newer Z-8L

they would not fit on any deck of PN FFG but for hauling loads back and forth they would be ideal addition to the Sea King

i think all sea king should be replaced by Z20 naval version updated for PN made in Pakistan along with army and airforce requirements. All Z9, Aluoutte3 and more of the kind should be replaced with 159 updated for PN made in pakistan

Z20 would be good and even fit on the FFG fleet possibly

however I think for heavy hauling and Marine transport it may suffer

Z20F is a very good chopper, long range and loitering time and also can carry vast array of weapons

Also on display was the second Pakistan Navy ATR 72-212A MPA (serial 78) upgraded by Rheinland Air Service (RAS) at Mönchengladbach, Germany. This was being exhibited just three weeks before delivery on July 10.

Known as the Sea Eagle, most of the systems integration is based around Aerodata’s AeroMission system. The Leonardo Seaspray 7300 maritime surveillance radar for long-range detection and classification is the main sensor and short-range classification is provided by a FLIR Star SAFIRE III EO/IR system. Two weapons hardpoints can carry a pair of MU90 torpedoes. Italy’s Elettronica Group has supplied the electronic support measures (ESM) systems for both longand short-range detection of threats, alongside a chaff and flare system for self-protection against infrared, radar or laser threats. According to Aerodata there is also an ELINT payload.

RAS beat off stiff competition from Canada’s PAL Aerospace and Italy’s Leonardo to sign the contract to provide two aircraft in 2015. Work commenced the following year and the first ATR 72-212A MPA (serial 79) was delivered to the Pakistan Naval Aviation’s 29 Squadron at Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Mehran on June 18 last year. However, the aircraft had not reached full operating capability by the end of the year due to alleged failures of onboard systems. Together, the ATRs will assist Pakistan Navy ships in monitoring 114,000sq miles (295,000km2) of exclusive economic zone waters. There’s also an option to upgrade a third aircraft (serial 77).

Seems there's is confusion or am I missing something here....

We know that PN acquired 8 ATRs (Serial # 71–79), of which 3 (77/78/79) were configured with Sea Eagle-MPA in the initial batch, and 2 (75/76) more were received in subsequent years.

This means the current fleet strength is 5 with Sea Eagle-MPA configuration.

Some may be used for spares. That seems to be the current procurement pattern
