We are close to mid 2026 and still not a single Hangoor in sight, those 8 subs are something that will give PN the biggest punch and if i remember correctly the rumors started of as early as 2015. Damn that's 11 years and still not 1 is delivered

2 will be delivered this year CNS has confirmed 2 more are in sea trials.

Comparatively with how protracted construction is of boats built in pakistan i hope they include massive upgrades because they might enter service like 5 years after first boat. 8th boats keel still isnt laid yet so still completely up for changes. I wouldve hoped they take this chance to include vls but seems unlikely

Are we working on any kind of sub launch CM? I know we tested Babur from underwater like several years ago, but after that nothing. Wonder if the new subs will be able to fire baburs or some other CM from China.

Afaik babur 3 was a very limited system and PN really only treated it as a prototype. You need something like a 1000km SLCM babur with LO and high penetration ability to bring adequate 2nd strike detterence capability especially when IN has built a SLBM based detterent for almost a decade now. Another thing people forget about SLCMs is that they are realistically our best way of establishing detterence against isreali first strike and so we need to look at it from a situation of not just breaking through indian but isreali IADS as well

They will come with YJ 18s I think.

Its not that i don't think navy doesn't have a couple babur 3s with nukes for 2nd strike capability its just that i think that they realised this was a very limited capability initial version of what can later become an adequate detterent. Babur 3s stated range is only 450km and they only did a couple tests with the thing. With this current capability we dont have adequate 2nd strike capability but with hangors coming online soon i think navy has a much improved SLCM planned for them.
