*PAKISTAN NAVY DEMONSTRATES COMBAT POWER WITH SUCCESSFUL FIRING OF TAIMOOR AIR-LAUNCHED CRUISE MISSILE*

Pakistan Navy has conducted successful live weapon firing of Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile - an indigenously developed Anti-Ship Weapon System - in a powerful demonstration of precision strike capability and operational readiness.

The Air-Launched Cruise Missile executed its mission with exceptional precision, validating Pakistan Navy's combat capability to detect, target and decisively neutralize enemy sea-based threats at extended ranges.

This demonstration by Pakistan Navy marks a pivotal elevation of national defence capability, further strengthening Pakistan Armed Forces' multi-dimensional coordinated strike posture and capabilities in the conventional domain.

Pakistan Navy stands resolute in its commitment to safeguard the nation's maritime interests and sovereign waters.

The President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief of Defence Forces and Services Chiefs have congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving this significant milestone.

I am one of those people. We all had heard about the project P-282 and that its being developed, we had never heard about the name SMASH. Finally, we witnessed all these tests where Navy announced a new weapon "SMASH". So people have assumed that P-282 was just an internal project name for SMASH.

But still can't be said with full certainty unless a top ranking official confirms it. We could be wrong (as many believe) and P-282 could be a different missile.

I am sure CNS mentioned P-282 as Antiship ballistic missile.

"..... ship-based long-range Anti-Ship and Land-Attack P-282 ballistic missile is under development.”

-CNS Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi

I was saying from day 1 that P-282 and SMASH were one and same missile despite most here assuming those different missiles. Seems my analysis was correct all along. No point of P282 a separate missile if all platforms being integrated with SMASH. Recently we have seen footages of SMASH testing from Zulfiqars and now Babur. Unless P282 is a land based missile from a silo.

*MARITIME CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE HOSTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND THE FUTURE WARFARE”*

A two-day international conference on “Emerging Technologies and the Future Warfare,” hosted by Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE), culminated in Karachi. Aim of the conference was to bring together maritime experts, academia and defence industry representatives on one platform to discuss changing geostrategic trends and impact of technology on modern warfare. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

While addressing the conference, Chief Guest highlighted the importance of close collaboration between industry, end-users and academia to drive innovation, adaptability and operational relevance. He said that such collaboration would promote indigenization and self-reliance, helping build a cost-effective and globally competitive defence ecosystem for Pakistan with export potential. He further underlined the Indian Ocean as a key region where the future of warfare is being written due to its vast contribution in global trade flow and any disruption can significantly impact global supply chains, energy prices and economies connected to it.

The conference brought attention to blurring lines between civil and military uses of advanced technologies, creating both opportunities and challenges for Pakistan’s defence ecosystem. It also emphasized on how rapid technological innovation is transforming warfare by redefining operational concepts, force structures and their outcomes.

The event was attended by senior military leadership, policymakers, diplomats, academia, industry experts and students from various universities. (DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The successful execution of Exercise MALPAK 6/26 in the strategically critical Straits of Malacca sends a clear operational message that maritime security cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan is no longer symbolic diplomacy, but an increasingly structured bilateral naval alignment shaped by Indo-Pacific power competition.

Conducted from 18 to 21 April 2026 at Lumut Naval Base and surrounding waters off Perak, the sixth edition of the Royal Malaysian Navy and Pakistan Navy bilateral exercise unfolded at one of the world’s most heavily trafficked maritime chokepoints, where disruption would trigger immediate global economic and military consequences.
