Pakistan Navy ships HUNAIN and YARMOOK seized more than 2,800 kilogrammes of narcotics worth an estimated $750 million during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ships were on routine patrol when they intercepted a suspicious boat. During a subsequent boarding operation, naval personnel recovered the narcotics from concealed compartments, ISPR said.
The Chief of the Naval Staff commended the officers and crew involved for their professionalism and vigilance and reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to maritime security and combating illicit trafficking at sea.
The president also praised the personnel involved in the operation and appreciated the Navy’s role in preventing illegal activities in maritime areas and protecting the country’s sea routes.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting maritime peace and security and combating illicit activities.
