Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

Bro

Im not saying or suggesting the Iranians are perfect. There perhaps maybe rogue element but you having bases and allowing the Americans to bomb civilian targets must have consequences and im not saying its correct - its creating retaliation strikes.
Perhaps its to put pressure on the likes of Kuwait to put pressure on the Americans to tone it down?

Yeah, for sure, and dont get me wrong, US bases in Kuwait are fair game

For sure, but just as Pakistan probably supports Iran's right to defend itself we may end up making the same mistake as in 1991 with Gulf War if Kuwaiti civilians are hit and we just stand there and do not even condemn it, lets face it, Pakistan would go on all out war with India over IWT, Desalination plants just as important to Kuwait

But - isn't the decision to go to war, Kuwait's decision? They seem happy to sit back on this it seems.

Well firstly they do not have capability but it seems Iran was quite open initially, it stated that these attacks were on US bases and not on the actual countries of Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi. That now seems to have changed with Iran attacking civilian targets. I just do not agree with that.

When they just bombed a few villages in Pakistan we hit Iran back hard. If Iran wants to fight how comes US bases in Israel are now suddenly off limits but Kuwaiti Desalination plants are not? See my point?

Iranians and US just playing tit for tat games now

Bahi its totally fair to analyze these things strategically and also considering what military and tactical issues/constraints these events pose. Ultimately, there is so much going on in the region, our own borders and inside our borders that we should remember charity beings at home.

Kuwait is hosting US forces which are engaged in attacking Iran, Iran views them as supporting US military activity against her people and her infrastructure. Do I agree with everything Iran says and does? Hell no, but does that matter in the long run or at a geo-strategic level? No.

I think this thread should allow more open discussion about all topics without strict moderation, because free flow of ideas is a good thing, I don't wish to be part of a forum where there is only one narrative.

But at the same time, we must be mindful to keep an open mind as to what is happening in the region and the machinations of our true enemies who are rubbing their hands in glee like an evil fly:

It hurts to see Muslim attacking Muslim but retaliation is the only option if those bases are being used to kill Iranians. Simple

Sure, I agree, so why are the Iranians boasting about attacking Kuwaiti civilian facilities?

It is not right bro.

To me, if it is ok for the USA to target and destroy civilian targets, water plants and electrical stations and road infrastructure in Iran to "force a behavioral change in Iran" and the world accepts that, then it is ok for Iran to target and destroy civilian targets, water plants and electrical stations and road infrastructure in Iran in Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE etc to "force a behavioral change in those countries as well."

Houthis announce they will blockade Saudi shipping lanes at the Bab-El-Mandeb.
Accuse KSA behind attack on Sanna Airport
Believe KSA along with allies in a coordinated efforts to seige Yemen and Seaports
Blame KSA for attacks in Yemen
State these aggressions will be met with a response from Yemen Houthis
"A blockade will be met with a blockade"
"We will target the Red Sea, We will target the Arabian Sea"
"We will prevent any Saudi or any ships doing business with Saudi from access to the red sea and will not be allowed entry through the Bab-El-Mandeb".

- Ansar Allah Houthis.

This is where I disagree, as it makes both sides as bad as each other, and if that were the case why not attack all US companies and facilities in the region? I could understand that logic

The Iranians want to reduce the "logistical" base of support in the region for the USA and try and push the Americans further away from Iran. In doing so, the USA has to deal with longer flight time for operations which reduces overall mission readiness and time on target. Right now, the USA is next door with HIMARS etc being launched from Kuwait, and Bahrain. If it can stop that, then that is a tactical victory.

Iran wants to reduce the USA's tactical freedom of movement in the region, so that it is easier for Iran to deal with the USA.

The US is then left to operate from Israel and its aircraft carriers etc.

Conversely this could work against them, hardening the view of the GCC states and further solidifying their reliance on US protection. It's difficult to see how this all this is NOT an unmitigated disaster right now.

True - but I don't Iran really cares too much right now. The Iranians are here to stay, the Americans are not and the Iranians are a reality they will need to learn to live with. Regardless of how much the GCC want to rely on the USA, the USA empire is in decline and is withdrawing from the world at large.

This is an unmitigated disaster for the GCC states who were trying to sell themselves as beacons of stability, it is unmitigated disaster for Iran has it has hurt them economically, it has been an unmitigated disaster for the USA who has got themselves trapped in a war they are struggling to get out of.

The winners are China in all this. Once again, sitting on their arse's and just winning..

No side is gonna back down now dude, Iranians have declared war, Houthis niw going to block Saudi, US has resources to go on.

This could start becoming a semi-permanent state of things for the region, and if you aks me both sides are as arrogant as each other

I just dont get why they are striking desalination plants and not Israel or US assets in Israel. Yes, Kuwaitis hist US bases but Kuwaiti Army has not attacked Iranian civilians right?
It is very simple. US assets in Israel are much better protected than a desalination plant in Kuwait. Also, Israel will retailiate far more strongly. That is why Iran is picking on the weakest targets, which is what anyone in their position would do. In our own case, GHQ bombs Afghanistan and not India when FAH/FAK carry out attacks.
