That's what concerns me. There seem to be plenty of "targets" but no clear plan for how to achieve them. That's why I don't understand why we're still not making progress with the economy for too long.

Instead of asking for more loans, why doesn't the Pakistani government focus on attracting FDI?
FDI creates factories, jobs, and exports. Cities like Karachi could become major manufacturing hubs for global companies. The government could offer free land and a 10 year tax holiday to attract investors.

I recently saw a video on literacy rate. All of south Asia was essentially illiterate when Brits left. Now India is about 84-85% literate, BD a little behind..SL far ahead. Pakistan is only ahead of Afghanistan. Even GCC countries are highly literate. You can't build an economy with less than 60% literacy (and somewhat falling).

You need to pump money in education, health...social spending. This is first of many steps needed. Boosting HDI is absolutely must to attract any FDI.

The Greed Just Never Ends

Hawksbay area is barren waste land, I hope DHA get it so they can develop in to modern city and compensate families of martyred families. Its the future of Karachi, only DHA will make it work. No one else will even bother before DHA, others will follow. Thats the reputation DHA have. Otherwise it will be made in to another machar colony.



If I'm going to die for my country then I hope my family is taken care of. Its a bare minimum you can do.

If the area is a barren waste land then establish a manufactureing hub. Give incentives to foreign and domestic to establish industries. Give electricity and others facilities.
A few Billions via FDI route can do wonders.

So let me get this straight ..... Pakistan can’t develop unless DHA holds its hand? That’s not an argument, that’s intellectual surrender. Reducing national progress to a housing society is exactly why we’re stuck in a loop of low expectations and plot‑economy fantasies.

Our biggest national disease is this obsession with comparing ourselves to India’s worst metrics.

“Oh they don’t have toilets, so it’s fine if we pay 20% more for petrol.”
“Oh they have slums, so it’s okay if our cities drown every monsoon. ”

This isn’t analysis, it’s self‑comfort.

If you want to talk development, compare Pakistan to countries that actually did it. Vietnam didn’t have DHA, yet its GDP per capita exploded from under $700 in 1986 to nearly $4,500 in 2023, and extreme poverty collapsed from over 50% to under 3%.Singapore didn’t need a real‑estate cartel to become one of the world’s most advanced economies.

So no, DHA is not Pakistan’s savior. Countries with fewer resources, fewer excuses, and zero “plot culture” are thriving, while we’re still debating whether development is even possible without a housing authority.

If anything, this argument proves how low the bar has fallen.
