Karachi Kings 203 for 5 (Warner 63*, Khushdil 44*, Ubaid 3-41) beat Lahore Qalandars 199 for 6 (Shafique 62, Fakhar 61, Moeen 2-26) by five wickets

There is nothing, for Karachi Kings, quite like Lahore Qalandars if they want to break a losing streak. The side they have beaten more frequently than any other was there like an antidote for their poor form, and Khushdil Shah's fireworks at the death ensured they accepted it with glee.

He struck Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf for 37 runs off the final 10 balls of the contest as Karachi romped home in a contest they absolutely needed to win to stay alive, and one they were the underdogs for large parts in.

An exhausted David Warner was at the other end for the entirety of the innings, and top scored with an unbeaten 44-ball 63, but as he began to flag at the end, a refreshed Khushdil took over.

Seven of the 14 balls he faced went for four or six as he found himself dialled in when it mattered most, obliterating the Qalandars' death bowling plans with an undefeated 44 off 14 balls.

It upended a contest Shaheen Afridi's men looked to have locked down for just about the entirety of the chase, never more than when the dangerous Moeen Ali and Azam Khan were dispatched within 11 balls of each other.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday took a major decision to allow cricket fans to attend the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the stadium.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi wrote in a post on X, " Dear cricket fans, I requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators in the stadiums. While he was also inclined to permit fans, he emphasised that austerity measures are currently in place across Pakistan, with efforts underway to minimise fuel consumption".

"However, on the request of franchise owners, he has graciously approved the presence of fans for the PSL 11 Final. I sincerely thank him for this decision and for facilitating the fans, "the post further added.

The PSL 11 final is scheduled to be played in Lahore on May 3. Authorities are expected to announce ticketing details and security protocols shortly to facilitate the influx of fans.

Last month, Naqvi announced that the PSL would be held without spectators amid government austerity measures due to the ongoing regional situation. He further restricted the matches to Lahore and Karachi to minimise movement in view of the energy crisis. The PCB chief also cancelled the opening ceremony.

Both federal and provincial governments have since introduced a range of austerity measures, including an additional weekly holiday, cuts in free petrol allocations for ministers, limits on protocol vehicles, and proposals for subsidised fuel for students.

The tickets for this year’s HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) are set to go on sale from April 27, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday.

The final — with teams yet to be decided — would take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 3 (Sunday). The final would also have a reserve day, which is May 4.

In a press release, PCB said the tickets will be up for grabs online at pcb.tcs.com.pk from 4pm on Monday, while physical tickets will be available at 18 designated TCS Express Centres in Lahore from 10am on Tuesday.

Fans can buy tickets for VIP enclosures (Fazal Mahmood and Imran Khan) for Rs6,000, while the premium enclosures (Rajas and Saeed Anwar) will be available for Rs4,000.

First-class enclosures, which comprise Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Abdul Qadir, Javed Miandad and Sarfaraz Nawaz, are priced at Rs2,000.

Seats in Hanif Mohammad, Imtiaz Ahmed, Saeed Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq, which are categorised as general enclosures, will be available for a minimum of Rs1,500.

The PCB noted that the “thrilling” final game of the tournament could also be enjoyed from the VVIP enclosure (Waqar Younis) at the Iqbal End, whose tickets can be bought for Rs8,000.

The tickets for the Zaheer Abbas enclosure at the Jinnah End will carry a price of Rs10,000, while the PCB Gallery tickets are priced at Rs12,000.

According to the PCB, fans should aim to reach Gaddafi Stadium by 6:30pm to witness the Curtain Closing Ceremony before the final match.

Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans and Islamabad United have already qualified for the playoffs, while Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen are in contention for the remaining slot.

The final qualification is likely to be determined on net run rate (NRR).
