No talks with protesters demanding Imran Khan’s release: Minister
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi says there will be no negotiations with protesters demanding the release of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters alongside Information Minister Atta Tarar, Naqvi implied that Khan’s wife was responsible for all economic losses and the people killed during the protests.

The imprisoned former prime minister has urged his supporters to “fight till the end”.
“We will not back down until our demands are met,” a post on Khan’s X account said, accusing security forces of firing on peaceful party workers.
“All protesting Pakistanis stay peaceful, united and stand firm until our demands are met – this is the struggle for Pakistan’s survival and true freedom,” the 72-year-old said.

‘PTI has little to lose’

Political analyst Benazir Shah suggests that the next 24 hours are going to be “crucial and tense”.
“If the PTI decides on a prolonged sit-in or if the situation escalates into violence, public sentiment – particularly among Islamabad residents whose daily lives have already been disrupted – could turn against the government. This could be particularly problematic for a government whose electoral legitimacy is already under scrutiny,” the Lahore-based analyst told Al Jazeera.
Shah questioned the wisdom behind “provocative statements” by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who said last night in a news conference that “five minutes of firing” could clear protesters, further risk inflaming tensions.
“At this point, the PTI has little to lose, as it is already bearing the brunt of the state’s aggression. However, it is important for the government to show restraint, prioritise dialogue and avoid taking extreme measures,” she said.
