Pakistan UNO Peacekeeping operations

Since joining the UN in 1947 and peacekeeping missions in 1960, Pakistan has made remarkable contributions to global peace.

With nearly 3,000 Pakistani peacekeepers currently serving in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia, Pakistan’s commitment remains strong.

Recognized by global leaders, the Pakistan Army has made sacrifices, with 171 soldiers, including 27 officers, laying down their lives in the line of duty. As a leader in women’s representation in peace missions, Pakistan’s dedication to peace and resilience in challenging environments upholds the UN’s vision for a more stable world.

@Panzerkiel @DESERT FIGHTER Please clarify something for me, would really appreciate it

Found this pic of a PA UN peacekeeper deployed during the Bosnian war.
1) IS this a BTR-80 or something else, and when did we operate them?
2) Is that a 30mm gun on the turret?

We did. At that time. It was UN store, which means units get rotated but the equipment stays there and gets taken over by incoming troops.

Is there any estimate on Pak forces participating in the MONUSCO mission? Their size and the composition of units would be nice. I am aware of an engineer unit present from last year's videos.

For context, currently M23 rebels are advancing towards Goma and other areas where there are sizable peacekeeper contingents. There is currently great difficulty in exfiltration afaik. Hence, why I ask.

More learned members could give you specific details, but as far as I know, we dont have any significant number in DRC

I think we should pull off from UN missions, UN is powerless and useless organization which can't stop or do anything for any major conflict that involve any powerful country, no help for Syria, or Gaza or Yemen or now Iran.

Let me in you on a little not so secret, the reason why Pakistan has one of the biggest peacekeeping presence is because the Soldiers on UN duty get paid several times their average salary.
