"Same old Stories in Punjab , we can't even feed Milk to our Children
My Children now are 14 year old , however I could not easily provide them
a glass of a milk , Milk is a Luxury (in Agricultural Pakistan). Why because I am from Poor Man in Pakistan , every day I wake up early go to work (halal income) and even then I can't buy Milk in today's inflation

When Politicians control their government , no one thinks about the People at ground level , it is not us current generation but the our future generations are also in debt now

Man Crises , and asks the Reporter to go ask other people as well
And repeats again , crying , we can't afford to buy Milk. My 5 year old , has not even seen what Milk looks like (Wipes his tear)

I work 12 hours sometimes I even work 16 hours but at end of day our situation does not change because of rising inflation

The Pakistani Establishment has all the power to fix things, but it’s pretty clear they’d rather keep the broken parliamentary system going probably because it works in their favor.

We are fed up with people dying being washed away by floods in Kpk.... Enough with PTI ....Too long they have ruled here ...Tired of watching their change narrative and topi drama by their Keyboard warriors..... They are worse than mossad agents in Iran...

They increased petrol price last night by Rs 8.36 per litre as well citing Israel-Iran recent war when not a singly oil container was blocked.

Even in imrans time people were of the same views, isn't it?
Whether it's Maryam, Imran , Bhutto or anyone else. They are all from the same class of rulers. Same to same.
The issues of Pakistan demand a better class of rulers who are :
Better at making and implementing policies.
Better at connecting people, the right people. The right type of people.
Better at handling the harami chains within bureaucracy and politics.
Better at understanding global politics and adjust Pakistans interests.
A must have: must ambitions when it comes to Pakistan.

We simply need different class of rulers.

The government on Monday increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs8.36 and Rs10.39 per litre, respectively, for the next fortnight ending July 15, owing to higher international prices following Israeli attacks on Iran.

In a late-night announcement, the Ministry of Finance said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had reviewed and adjusted prices for petroleum products in view of fluctuations in the international market.

But inflation is 0.37%

I think there is some dissonance here and particularly the claim of "85%".
The inflation is the lowest ever (meaning affordability is as good as it has ever been in Pakistan and this is backed up by local and foreign sourced data and I do NOT credit the current government for it as a lot of external factors are at play here as well). Anecdotally speaking, the markets and restaurants are packed with consumers and weddings, even those of lower middle and middle class, are fairly opulent events.
I certainly think there is dire poverty in Pakistan but I think we need a better gauge instead of these anecdotal interviews. The way questions are posed to people, the demographic that is asked such questions, all of these have a hand in painting the picture a particular way.
yeah, inflation being low doesnt mean that prices have gone down. whatever increase they occurred is still in place. while salaries havent increased. purchasing power has gone down, not up. and more taxes, including GST, have been imposed by the govt in new budget.

That gives lower and upper middle class some additional fiscal space which I believe we see in terms of consumer spending.
there is no additional fiscal space for anyone. all buzzwords by planners sitting in their AC rooms on govt money.

As long as the macro is ticking up, expect speed humps.

From 2028 Pakistan will have a more money to spend. Right now time to tighten your belts. There is an IMF programme on top of you. Should be a lesson never to go into IMF again.
as long as fbr babus keep sitting on their collective behinds and do nothing to document the economy or go after tax evaders, nothing is going to change.

In Pakistan, 85% of people are struggling. A father cries on camera saying his 5-year-old has never seen milk. He works 12–16 hours a day but still can’t afford basic food due to rising inflation. Meanwhile, politicians live in luxury, ignoring the real suffering of the poor. This is the reality hidden from TV screens.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is an economic indicator that measures the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. In simpler terms, it tracks the cost of a typical set of things that people buy to see how prices are changing

If I'm reading the graph correctly. Does it mean a Naan that would've cost 10PKR in 2010 now costs more than 35 ??😲
Btw which website is that ?🤔

Regarding the bolded part, IMO, even if the current inflation remains low or zero, that doesn't mean affordability will be achieved.

Because of the past high inflations, the prices had already gone extremely high (read unaffordable).

Current low/zero inflation will only mean that the (already high) prices will not increase any further from the already increased levels (or increase very little).

However, without substantial increase in income levels, it will need a huge deflation to counter the earlier extreme inflation, so the goods become affordable again.

Correct me if I am wrong, please.

Pakistan needs bloody revolution....we never achieved a true freedom from our corrupt generals and politicians......There need to be an accountability through bullets....

enough of this nonsense about constitution , judiciary and military clowns.....they all need to taste the real medicine.... mass uprising resulting in destruction of the entire corrupt system...

If you have too much blood, you can give it to Edhi foundation. Pakistan literally needs your blood.

Yes, oldest trick in the book. Government will sign all flimsy deals and then become political martyrs just like those before them and those who bore them.
