Pakistan's Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircrafts

there are several other possibilities
1. the ZDKs are complete junk
2. ERIEYE is less capable system compared to the E-3, Wedgetails. Maybe you need more aircraft to compensate

The operators of ERIEYE are 2nd tier players
Brazil, Greece, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia (6 E-3s to go with 2 ERIEYEs), Thailand, Sweden, UAE

last possibility is that ERIEYE is more of a surveillance platform rather than command & control platform

Not really, UAE, Saudi, Poland and Greece could have all opted for E-7. Erieye very comparable. Not a case of ZDK being junk, just not as good as Erieye, and also networking may or may not have been an issue.

This piece of news which has been making rounds, for the past several days that the 3 new EriEye AEW&C systems that are being ordered by the PAF are the upgraded (Extended Range) ER version ... is quite curious.

If memory serves me right, there was a discussion on the topic, in the past that the Saab 2000 engines were not powerful enough to fully utilize the maximum potential of the ER version's performance. That is why Saab offers this radar on the Bombardier 6000 platform and calls it GlobalEye.

Can somebody please clarify this?
Thank you in advance.

ERIEYE are a beast. Even old ones are really good and new ones are phenomenal. We always try to go big. Erieye is way more advance than E3 Wedgetail.

Most of elite air forces do not have ERIEYE. May be you have an explanation

Erieye has more clients then E-7, many of these are very modern air forces like UAE, Saudi and Poland. Try posting facts, not baseless opinions

Compare the ERIEYE operators with E-3 & wedgetail operators
United States
United Kingdom
France
Chile
NATO

Even excluding the USAF I will take the E-3/Wedgetail air forces any day

Even Saudi Arabia has 6 American AWACS aircraft to the 2 Swedish AEW aircraft

Sorry, usnure what the point is you are making, both systems are very high end and both in use with high end air forces, much as I appreciate much of your efforts on this forum is to put a negative spin on anything Pakistan operates. Simple case is most Erieye operators had the choice to go with either E-7 or Erieye.

Naturally US will always go with a US system. Erieye was not available when France chose E-3 and Chile bought a single unpgraded E-3.

Now you are throwing E-3 and E-7 into the mix, two different systems two generations apart. Why not learn a bit then we debate?

I am not saying ERIEYE is not a bad system. Acquisition of 10 ERIEYE systems does not add up. The Israelis who face existential threat have only 4 AEW aircraft.

Two different countries with 2 very different threat scenarios. IDF faces limited air threat and has a very small geographical area compared to Pak.

For Israel even two are more than enough. Due to its size

The Indians will have 9 Indian built awacs in next few years
Plus three phalcons from Israel
There are plans to add additional high end awacs from USA
18 is the number they are heading towards

Seems IDRW always seem to have news regarding our Air Force, that even the Air Chief hasn't heard of.

If the issue is related to Power then it could be managed by auxiliary power unit SAAB-2000 is not a fighter jet which have space constrains, If I remember correctly conclusion of the debate was due to carveture of earth Erieye-ER additional benefits from the higher service celling of Global-6000 which is around 50K feet compare to SAAB-2K which has around 30K max service celling and because of this less service celling Erieye-ER installed on SAAB-2K might not attain it's full range of 700 Km
