His family is from Jallander in East Punjab now In India, where they were known as “basti ke Pathan” . Their fair skins and looks were not because they had Pashtuns blood but because the family were “camp followers” of the British Army and those days they did not have condoms. When they came to Pakistan after partition, one of their relatives I.e Burki was the head of the Evacuee Property Board, who allocated all the nice properties in Zaman Park Lahore to IK’s family, which helped them move into upper echelons of the Lahore families. If that had not happened, they would most probably have moved into #eera mandi.
