What the cultits fail to realize is that getting rid of the military is never a realistic option. Reforming it as part of a comprehensive set of reforms is the way that can be achieved step by step, and never in a rush.

Oh I do not expect IK to fix anything, not since 2013. Neither will any other single individual or government fix Pakistan. I only root for him because he is anti establishment ( at least for now ).

Pakistan's actual issues are much more basic. How much of the country can even write their name in Urdu or English? The masses live in filthy conditions and have little or no education. Neither is the elite interested in fixing that.

Reason is simple. If every household in Pakistan became literate and healthy, then how will the current elites hold the country?

Reason its so easy for army to control Pakistan is because as an institution, its got the resources and enough intelligent people to run circles around everybody else. Same goes for many of our politicians, zamindaars, judges etc.

I think our main issue is not illiteracy. We as a nation always look for a magic solution. Be it army be it establishment be it beaurucracy be it politicians we always want someone else to fix it for us. We don't take responsibility for our very small and local issues. Local healthcare education policing waste disposal etc everything is left for someone else to deal with. And it translates broadly into our national issues on the national level.
When we would stop looking at others and would practically try to solve our small issues ourselves starting at the local mohalla or village level then you would see the change you want to see.
Otherwise you can have a whole nation of scholars and accomplish nothing.

More Urban Myths.
Maybe, in some villages of Sindh and Punjab, the Jageerdars try to keep 'the masses' illiterate but I don't think 'the elite' works consciously to have lots of poor, angry people in their vicinity.
And never 'every household' gets rich. Plenty of poverty in America too but for that 'the elite' have figured out social safety networks--if nothing else then to keep peace.
In short, there is no overarching 'intelligence' in Pakistan to try to keep the poor, poor and the illiterate, illiterate. One may start looking the overpopulation to try to find where the problems are coming from.
