Very thought provoking article - time of these ruling Mullahs is over, people are fed up

No fan of colonial jamedar establishment but this article is highly naive. Ruling elites both jamedar and their civilian minions will continue to breed their evil spawn as the next generation who will simply slide right into all positions of power and influence to perpetuate the repressive order. Freedom aspiring young generation will remain marginalized and irrelevant.

KARACHI: PTI leaders are resolute to hold a public gathering at Mazar-i-Quaid in Karachi today with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on his way to the mausoleum, while the party says that authorities have blocked the routes to bar its workers from reaching the venue.

The rally has been planned as part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s four-day visit to Sindh, who is leading his party’s street mobilisation movement.

The visit began with his arrival in Karachi on Friday afternoon. He visited Hyderabad yesterday, and the PTI plans to conclude his visit with a public gathering in Karachi today.

PTI spokesperson Mohammad Ali Bozdar said while speaking to Dawn that police had blocked roads and were not allowing party workers to enter Bagh-i-Jinnah, where the government had allowed the party to hold the rally.

The KP CM would now arrive at Mazar-i-Quaid at 3pm, he said, reiterating his allegation that police had blocked roads in various areas and were preventing PTI workers from reaching the new venue as well.

When again reached out to him at around 3:30pm, he said the KP CM’s convoy, which also included other party leaders, had left a farmhouse in Gadap and was on its way to Mazar-i-Quaid.

“He is expected to reach there at 4pm,” he said, adding that CM Afridi would pay his respects at the mausoleum and later on, he would address party workers from a truck, the arrangements for which had been completed.

Criticising the Sindh government for allegedly blocking the rally, he recalled the Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani had welcomed the KP CM at the Karachi airport and presented a Sindh cap and Ajrak to him.

“Was that a pretence?” he questioned, slamming the Sindh government for its “shamelessness”.

On the party‘s decision to hold a gathering outside one of the gate’s of Mazar-i-Quaid, he said, “Holding a rally at a public gate does not block any route.”

The party initially planned to hold the rally at Bagh-i-Jinnah, and the PPP-led Sindh government had even issued a no-objection certificate for it despite objections from the PML-N.

But the PTI blamed the Sindh administration for “wasting their time” and announced that the public meeting would now be held in front of the Quaid’s mausoleum.

In a late-night development, PTI spokesperson Fauzia Siddiqui posted on X that the Sindh government wasted their time as the deputy commissioner East had issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) on Saturday evening at 6:30pm.

“The public power witnessed in Karachi yesterday has frightened them; they can’t decide what to do now. The people of Karachi will be at the Mazar-i-Quaid public gate at 2pm with our guest, chief minister of KP, Sohail Afridi. We will hold a public meeting at the VIP gate at 2pm,” she stated.

What a charisma and bonding force of all provinces and every Pakistani.
tbf police have beaten people, and sometimes they have shown restraint. Anyway, a big failure for the sector commander Karachi who closed all entry points of the city (based on oper sa arder hain by policemen, not from IG etc).

Live coverage …. Despite Zardari bastard playing double game Karachi did not let us down ….

But if the powers really wanted would this large gathering be possible ? I think behind the scene Ice is melting slowly but surely. Just hope we can reach a realistic middle ground which can take us all forward as a nation. All parties need to let go their egos for greater good.

No I think this was a shock to the establishment, ppp and pmln although people living in Karachi are not surprised as IK is huge there in all areas although Jamateislamin also has a base . If there is no restrictions you will see crowds like this all over Pakistan

‘Imran Khan-804’ among personalised vehicle numbers to be auctioned by KP govt on Jan 27

News Desk
January 14, 2026

A number plate bearing the registration number “Imran Khan-804” will be among the personalised registration marks (PRM) that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will put up for auction on January 27, provincial minister Syed Fakhar Jahan told Dawn on Wednesday.

Personalised registration marks are vehicle number plates bearing a personalised number that automobile owners can retain even after selling their vehicles.

The KP Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department had earlier issued an advertisement in newspapers, seeking potential bidders interested in purchasing the choice number plates.

Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jahan told Dawn today that the “Imran Khan-804” and “Imran Khan-1” were among the choice numbers being put for auction as “many people showed interest in it”.

The number 804 is associated with incarcerated PTI founder and former premier Imran Khan as it is the same number that has been assigned to him in jail.

Jahan said that the bidding for the personalised numbers would take place in Nishtar Hall in Peshawar, on January 27, and the PRMs to be put for auction would have a base price of Rs1 million.

The minister said that bidders could also suggest personalised numbers, including other politicians’ names, and authorities were open to such proposals. However, the authorities had not received any suggestions in this regard so far.

Jahan said that the KP cabinet had approved the PRM scheme.
