To be honest I was too guilty of that ..

When musharaf took power I cheered him on not because I believed it was “legal” or “Nawaz hijacked a plane” or what ever nonsense the army claimed he was doing but because I erroneously believed a strong military leader could solve Pakistan’s chronic problems and then return to democracy. I fell for Musharraf’s bull crap..

In the truth he was just power hungry and after 9 years could not even build the Kalabagh dam which would end Pakistan’s energy crisis or screw that he didn’t even professionalize the police !


The current military leadership is far less convincing in terms of charisma , actions or even deliverance .. musharaf what ever people said about him handled the economy well … exchange was stable around 60 to the dollar , decent growth rate, and things were stable.

There is really no point in arguing with him and his ilk. I showed him how military establishment made an unforgivable mistake of not accepting results of general election 1970 and thus lost East Pakistan. And he was like is this all you can come up with?

Look at a Poll in another thread where now almost 80% votes say there is no future for PTI without Imran; three years ago, that Poll would have been different.

Because its pretty obvious. Pti has many groupings, even has many sellouts or those who leak info to the authorities. Pti would only stay as Kpk party and slowly move away from IK style of politics. PPP after Benazir became Sindhi party. This is why I say since IK is in jail, PTI needs to be controlled by their senior committe, they need to form a special Committe, negotiate with the opposition, bring the tension down, calm Imran Khan and then work towards bringing him out of jail. I understand IK is the leader but Pti is a democratic party, they must have senior leadership which can handle the party and save it.

We all follow our own individual paths to enlightenment. Some take longer than others, that is all.

(BTW the stability of the exchange rate during Gen Musharraf's era was all thanks to Uncle Sam.)

Understood, and I appreciate the clarification.

What the zealots of all persuasions need to realize is that we all agree on where we are, and where we want to go, but HOW we get there is the issue. We are NOT each other's enemies, but look at how some are angrily just attacking those who merely disagree on how to get the changes we wish for, and not on the dire need for the change itself.

watching that Shia mullah leader evoking Karbala and comparing it with Imam Hussain's sacrifice made me throw up. I wondered if that hypocrite Mullah had any shame and remembered how shia pilgrims are executed on regular basis by people Imran and his party favors peace and accommodation.

IMO, the best possible way to deal with such mullahs is to ensure they get their wishes as soon as possible, without exception.

But unfortunately, between Imran's expat Pakistani supporters, Indians and Afghans, there is a lot of false news going on with a singular goal to bring enough anarchy and economic disaster to Pakistan to somehow benefit Imran. The three entities' goals maybe different but strategies are similar and they echo each other.

Honestly, PTI couldn’t even come in power without military establishment’s support. PPP and PMLN had made sure of it by staffing their loyal functionaries in every department of Pakistan, thereby making it impossible for any third political force to enter the power corridors organically. Thus, the military establishment did what it had to do in 2018 elections, pissing off PMLN and PPP, because they ruined their established two-party system.

It was General Mushraff who mentioned this, he said PPP and Pmln come to power turn by turn, we need a 3rd way, and slowly the process was started, after his own resignation he started with APML but that failed, then later on PAT Dr Tahir ul Qadri party held long march, big jalsas in order to call for a change. He mentioned even the military wants this since without reforms and built up of powerful institutions we cannot move forward. He opposed the current corrupt system. Then Imran khan PTI joined and the youth fell in . Naya Pakistan, Azadi and the rest. PPP and Pmln always maintained it was the generals behind this.
