#1 No Afghan govt will give up claim to KPK and Pushtoon parts of Balochistan. So, irrespective of who rules Pakistan, they will face a challenge from Kabul.
#2 Given Pakistan's financial problems, it has little support to offer potential allies by way of monetary support. IND is better placed that way.

Do not forget Hazrat Ayub Khan who started 1965 war with India to hold on to power or Hazrat Yahya Khan who started 1971 war with East Pakistan to hold on to power illegitimately!
