In Pakistan’s history, this has opened an unprecedented chapter. For the first time, a former ISI Chief—who led intelligence operations during the NATO and American withdrawal from Afghanistan—has been court-martialed.
This was not an ordinary officer. He was regarded as one of the pride of Pakistan’s army and intelligence services, a key strategist during one of the most critical geopolitical transitions in the region.
By court-martialing such a figure, the establishment has crossed a line. A door has been opened—one that cannot be closed. If a former ISI Chief of this stature can be put on trial, then no position is beyond reach.
This decision has opened the gates of hell for the system itself. After this, it is no longer unthinkable that, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, an Army Chief—indeed, even a Field Marshal—could face court-martial.
Then explain how come current Field Marshal got himself lifetime immunity from any accountability in the recently passed 27th amendment? After all, why should anyone be above accountability for their actions? No one should be.

Why beginning with Gen Zia? Why not Gen Ayub who imposed the first martial law in Pakistan or Gen Gracey who disobeyed the orders of Jinnah to fight in Kashmir? In fact, we should start by posthumously court martialing ALL past dictators beginning with Gen Zia…
I do not have a privilege to like your post, but this posts of yours is five stars. establishment of this website took away my like and dislike option.Just remember how the current Field Marshal gave himself lifetime immunity from any prosecution in court before doing court martial of a former DG ISI!![]()
You're a sensible man. If you can't see the vast difference in what is going on now vs what happened in 2018, then I don't think we can even have a sensible discussion here.Again, that is not a fair, but a naive, assessment. After all, IK knew how he himself was put into power, and to what extent such matters are managed, did he not?
May 9 happened afterwards. A DG ISI reports to the PM, so why should he not have input on it? Destroying relationships? You need to read less of the Fauji newspapers VC, the same ones that told you SMQ was free?I agree with the sticking with the CM part. But there were many other things: influencing the selection of ISI chief, destroying relationships with USA and SA, May 9, etc. etc.
Yeah...it's the Fauj's kingdom, and we are just toiling away in it.And it fer sure ain't a soccer match!

Destroying relationships?
The Saudis didn't like us towing an independent line.
And now we are firmly a gun for hire for the Arabs.
Having a different opinion on foreign policy where you put your country's interests first is destroying the relationship, then so be it. Ya hamesha aisay doosron ki chabloosi hi kartay rehna hai?
Yeah...it's the Fauj's kingdom, and we are just toiling away in it.
