With this logic, you are saying that Khan used to abduct PML-N and PPP leaders when he was in power and now abducted by others.
Khan is a good man but also a stubborn baby, definitely not a politician and not visionary at all. That is the reason why he is still in prison as despite enjoying public support and being the leader of largest political party in Pakistan, he is in prison for the last 700 days
Good man but definitely stubborn, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if at the service of national interests; a tough negotiator.
The key issue is if he returns what is the vision for his second term in office. I doubt they would allow him to prosecute (or seize the assets of) anyone the oligarchy would want to protect. So beyond that, I assume the issues are around institutional reforms, business monopolies, and a general shift in what is expected of politicians; a task those benefiting from the status quo won’t want to endure, to compete.
If we look at the country as an undeveloped entity, mismanaged but with room for growth, that is in desperate need of FDI, for example, We need judicial reform to ensure projects get started and don’t face un-necessary hurdles. We need a level field so business can sell in the local market on an equal basis, and then focus on the export market, we need politicians that are responsive to local needs, not embezzling funds when we have millions of children out of school. This happens in pockets throughout the country, but we need to raise expectations, and hold people accountable.
If he takes a deal without the ability to set the policy agenda for his next government it would be a pyric victory.
Before all he could claim in his rallies where the other two parties are corrupt and therefore his performance should be overlooked because he isn’t corrupt.
Now he has been given a platform, due to his confinement, and as a contrast to what has been happening the past 3 years. A platform that only grows more evident the longer he is in jail. The system works for fewer and fewer people and is too burdensome and dysfunctional. He doesn’t even have to campaign on fighting corruption directly, just on institutional reforms; the performance merit a government he makes have been decreased. The bar has been lowered, a functional government that allows real growth and dignity.
