To my disappointment, Mr Talat Hussain, who I considered to be THE best journalist in Pakistan, also turned out to be a patriotic anchor.

I still respect him though, it's about survival and access for journalists in Pakistan.

Nice churan, but the day PTI officially announce that the Riyasat e Medina churan was just a hoax and watch PTI popularity take a nose dive to its grave. Right now people are still going through IK hangover, just give it another 1 or 2 years max. It took me 1 year to realize what a drama he was.
Btw, establishment has not been finding IK replacement for yearssss. They just got rid of him not even 4 years ago. Remember it took them nearly 10 years to find replacement for Bhutto with Sharif and then another 2 decades to find replacement for Nawaz with IK. Give it another 5 years and people will remember IK as zio failed project.

I don’t have faith in Pakistan’s current political system. To me, the parliamentary model simply doesn’t fit Pakistan’s realities. Unless the 18th Amendment is rolled back, the country can’t move forward. Provinces should be ceremonial at best with very lean government, and real governance should run through an Economic Zone structure that manages districts and cities directly, Tax collection should be given to economic Zones instead of FBR. I’ve already laid out a detailed post on how tax collection would work under the Economic Zone model. The basic idea is pretty straightforward: the federal government keeps an oversight committee, but the actual tax collection happens inside each Economic Zone through a digital filing system. Everyone files, no exceptions. That includes military personnel, who would get certain tax breaks depending on their bracket, but they still have to file like everyone else. The whole point is that nobody gets a free pass. And under EZ mode, IPP contracts can't be enforced on EZ, they have choice to build their own electricity.

The most practical and proven model, in my view, is a 34‑Economic‑Zone system, the same kind of structure that has driven success in China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

I’m not an Imran Khan fanboy, but if you ran a clean, pressure‑free survey in Pakistan today, around 85% of people would still choose IK/PTI over the traditional political mafia. That’s just the public sentiment.

But even then, IK never had a magic wand. You can’t fix an economy that’s been neglected for 70 years in a single term. The establishment didn’t give him the space to stabilize the country, his government got hit with COVID, and he himself was too rigid at times. If he had focused more on building alignment with the establishment to push structural reforms instead of spending energy fighting PMLN and PPP, Pakistan’s economic trajectory could have been very different.

And let’s be realistic, even Today (August 9, 2026) if the establishment brought in the top 100 economists in the world, gave them supercomputers, AI, and unlimited analytical tools, they still couldn’t fix Pakistan’s economy in five years. Stabilization alone would take 10 to 15 years. Only after that would you start seeing real, meaningful growth.

People celebrate a 1% to 4% increase in exports, but they ignore the fact that the trade deficit keeps growing every single year and total debt has grown to 400 billion dollars. That’s not progress, that’s survival.

Ask yourself, why all of the sudden establishment is in Panic? China, Pakistan's lifeline, own 28% of Pakistan's total debt, has clearly asked establishment to fix their house and bring things in order. They have threatened to stall CPEC projects. No more free money, no more CICI Pizza franchise, no more lavish trips.

He cannot compare that lending for secondary economic activities can be advantageous. His reply was so "so IK wants to make Pak S.Korea" or something,
Not to mention sweeping claims that the US has influenced GHQ till 2020 only.

Chalay that is fine this is a forum and a back and forth is normal but;

Imran Khan had 3 years out of which 1 got wasted in Covid and "Minus One" games.

These guys have had 70+ years direct or indirect and they don't want to talk about its shortcomings. They just want to keep trying the same thing over and over and hope for different results. Believe me I'd love it if just signing MoUs and taking nice pictures with world leaders was all that Asim/Shahbaz needed to do to bring some life into economy and security situation but it doesn't work like that.

It's like that joke where a Patwari/Fauj-eet goes to hell and the Devil says tumne aisa kya kiya ke tum yaha aye and he just replies, "Pehle dasso Imran Khan ne 3 saal ki kita?".

Talat is aware of all things, but he also has to teach on the side to earn. They are all very good. They know how to be real proper journalists believe me. Even the most biased people like Shehzad, NFP, Muzammil are all secretly aware of reality.

On many thinkfests/litfests on the sidelines these guys quietly admit ke dukaan bhi chalaani hoti hay. So don't mind their words too much.

They ALSO have admitted many times that Khan was the only one who would allow serious grilling in questions. This is because IK's formative years were in UK where it's not considered a bad thing.

Even Zia and Mushi were not afraid of questioning and debate (Dehli born). The feudalistic lot of generals and politicians (Punjab & Sindh) are egoistic and patriarchal in nature.

Yes Musharaf jaisa bhi tha. I don't support him one bit, how he handled Kargil, went after Nawaz Sharif and made himself president all of that was a 'piece of paper' for him but after all that, he had the balls to at least take hard questions in person.

This current guy Asim Munir. We've all heard him speak here and there. Can you imagine how embarrassing he would be in a live interview? It's just him leveraging his office and uniform for perks and powers that are beyond his stature.

This is false. Pakistan Army still has a huge pro US lobby within it. Just look at how happy Munir is when he's invited to White House.


This is false. Musharaf offered IK big seats at one point and he denied. Musharaf himself has said this and expressed disappointment.

You think Imran Khan was not happy when he went to White House to see Trump? He even stayed quite when asked about aafia siddiqui. And then when he went back home he labeled his trip to US as one of his biggest success in life. Wasnt it PTI US wing that was giving early celebratory good news to their supporters that as soon as Trump wins he will release Imran Khan? Wasnt it PTI government that gave Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam to Racist Pro Israel Lindsey? Wasnt it PTI that was paying millions to pro Israel lobby for Imran Khan release? Oh and lets not forget PTI "Tigers" who were chanting slogans like "hum amrika kay agay nahi jhukay gai" and now hiding in US.

Musharaf denied because IK was their golden boi at that time. Of course if Musharaf admitted to giving favors to IK their entire project Imrando would get exposed. Use some common sense logic in your arguments for once please. And in a system where Army controls everything, how else was Imran Khan even allowed to join the big boys club? Of course with Army backing and approval was IK allowed to become PM. If Army wanted they would have rigged the elections against him.

How different should Musharaf handled Kargil? By informing PM? What the fk would a PM know about battlefield tactics? What different outcome would that have made? Imran khan would have outrightedly disapprove military action against India because he himself in parliament said "to kiya keron india pay humlay kerdon"? We lost because of international pressure mainly. We needed to bring India to talking table had we captured strategic position near LOC.
Listen man, defeats are part of every empires and nations. After WWII US was declared world super power and yet failed to capture entire Korean peninsula and failed to keep communism out of Vietnam yet they remained super power still today. Look at your Muslim's history, (i know you hate muslim history) but didnt it take Muslims over 100 years to defeat Crusaders after losing many battles?

Thats not the job of FM to give live interview. You know whose job it is to give live interview? Imrano if he does get free. And I hope i take his interview and I will grill him until he starts crying. The first question I will ask him... so tell me what is this Riyasat e Medina all about where historically military was in charge of politics throughout Muslim history and yet you want to exclude it? The the follow up questions will get even more grueling until he admits saaar yes saar i lied about Riyasat e Medina to get sympathy votes from emotionally charged awam.
