Punjab faces greater threat from other provinces than 'neighbouring countries': CM Maryam

All her development claims in file , nothing else...she is enjoying Govt of Pakistan plane paid by poor nation using for family wedding shopping spree ..

I don’t know about her claims of development but I ca tell you this, my village is way more cleaner & safer than it was under PTI government.

This is coming from someone who was as anti PMLN as it gets & highly pro PTI.

We all see where things are headed. Lets not put our heads in the sand.

This is the Sharif Family's post break up plan when we will have the inevitable Yugoslav moment.

They are hoping for Punjab to be client state of India if not a complete merger back.

The Generals also have one as well. That includes squeezing as much out of this country as possible and sending it to thier offsprings abroad.

No

They are obviously better for Punjab than PTI ever was under Buzdar and whatever shenanigans IK and his wife were pulling from Islamabad.
But she says crap like this, is a bonafide narcissist, have these dumb middle aged idiotic women in her cabinet, has turned Punjab into a central asian dictatorship with her and her fathers pics everywhere and if army's get out of their way they'll most likely even publish their own faces onto currency notes and school textbooks, is using CTD to kill a lot of innocent people maybe her opposition too who knows.
Army brutally tortured PTI workers in Punjab and she probably enjoyed the show or was directly responsible for it. PTi was/is not a fringe party in Punjab so they probably had to suppress and torture a lot of people to get their way.
It's a lot of things
There are no good choices.

I agree with @Starlord. Punjab is pretty much the best governed and most productive part of Pakistan. And a lot of credit goes to successive generations of the Sharif clan.

Nah.
Check this table. These stats when Sindh population is half of the Punjab .Screenshot_20260906_080020_Brave.jpg

@GatlingGunZ @SaadH

Right and wrong. You can't compare the productivity and tax revenues of Karachi, a city and the commercial capital of the nation, with Punjab, which has large agricultural population. Take away Sindh from Punjab and then you compare Sindh with Punjab.

Regards

It is time for Pakistan provinces to be split up into multiple parts. Each of them. No more of this ethnic boundary BS.

Punjabi Elite in Government and Army are Behind Terrorism and Destruction of KPK: CM KPK Sohail Afridi

Now just imagine the reaction from pdf intellectuals if he actually said this. But here because Maryam baji said it. So its okay.

KpK , PTI, MQM, are in favor of new provinces since start. You need to convince shareef clan and zardari clan who believe they will loose everything if provinces split.

I do wonder how it is that Fauj suddenly loses its supreme power when it comes to matters that actually benefit the country.

Then suddenly they're at the mercy of Sharifs and Bhuttos, their own creations and everything has to be done by (mostly) by the book.

Just go in assembly and pass a law that gives field marshal authority to make new provinces. Martial law hay tou martial law ki tarha chalao.

It's all about short term goals and long term goals. Accepting to some of demands from establishment favors PMLN and PPP because that will keep them in power for this term. Maybe even next term. But if karachi become a separate province then PPP can not make government in free and fair elections in karachi for atleast 30 years. Same goes for south punjab, PMPN can not win it now even in 20 years.

They may be corrupt to their core but they are not stupid to jeopardize their long term survival (their kids and their rule on us pakistanis) for Asmi munir saab's demands. If this was establishments demand during initial London plan then they would have agreed to, because PDM had no choice at that time. But now they are in a position of strength.

All agreed but why doesn't Fauj just start picking up everyone at night? They have enough unmarked vehicles and men for it in every corner of the country.

I mean, if this is a real priority then just make up cases right now and put them in jail until they sign the bill with their own hands.

Where does all this conniving stuff go when It's not a matter of preserving Fauji rule. More provinces are genuinely a good idea. Especially for Punjab and Balochistan.

We give too muc credit to eatablishment. It is nothing without the support of polotical parties.

When bajwa contacted opposition parties during PTI givernment and asked them to bring VONC and that establishment will support it. If opposition parties rejected, do you think this would have been possible ?

And 70% of the atrocities condicted against PTI and its workers have been at hand of government, not establishment. Establishment is just letting it go. While sometimes participating too.

So today, if 2 major political parties (PMLN and PPP) says NO. Establishment have no way of forcing them.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said the province faced a greater security threat from “neighbouring provinces than from neighbouring countries”, stressing that terrorism entered Punjab through its provincial borders.

Speaking at an AI technology event in Lahore, the chief minister said, “The unfortunate thing is that the threat [Punjab] faces comes less from my neighbouring countries and more from my neighbouring provinces.”

“Terrorism enters Punjab from there. Everyone has their eyes on Punjab, but, thank God, Punjab remains safe. The kind of threats we face come from all our provincial borders,” she said.

The chief minister asserted that there had been a significant improvement in the law and order situation since her government came to power in 2024.

She identified organised crime and religious intolerance as some of the main challenges that Punjab faced.

In an apparent reference to the now-banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), CM Maryam said some groups “spread hatred under the cover of religion” and were “political parties in reality”.

She went on to state that religious events were now held peacefully, compared to the situation of “religious polarisation” a couple of years ago.

Maryam said Punjab was now the country’s “most AI-enabled province” and had invested billions of rupees in technology and security to protect and strengthen it.

She said that when she assumed office, she discovered that terrorists possessed more advanced technology than the government, including night-vision cameras, and were carrying out attacks with carefully devised plans.

“Thank God, we now have a complete system in place,” she said, adding that cameras had been made bulletproof because terrorists used to target them. Thermal cameras and drones had also been deployed at checkpoints and joint checkpoints to strengthen security and protect people.

The Punjab CM recalled that attacks on checkpoints had previously resulted in the deaths of five people and, at times, as many as 10. “Attacks still happen, but the loss of life has been significantly reduced,” she said, attributing the improvement to investment in fortification and technology.

Referring to the katcha areas, Maryam said they had previously been a hub of terrorism and crime, including kidnappings for ransom and honey traps.

“With the support we have received from the military and the Punjab government, and with the cooperation of the Sindh government, the situation has now changed. The area has become largely crime-free, and the writ of the state has been established,” she declared.

The chief minister also said she had decided “a few days ago” to take action against elements involved in corruption.

“I am not talking about government ranks or referring to police ranks … I am talking about us as a nation. We have become so accustomed to corruption that it has become part of our daily routine,” she said.

Maryam noted her government had also established a system to ensure immediate action against corrupt elements. “If people do not trust their state, that country can never move forward,” she remarked.

Every province in Pakistan has its share of idiots. Unfortunately in Punjab it is obviously the Sharif clan.
