You talk like an accountant most of the time, concerned about costs and amortization. National defense isn't a corporation to make profit. Not saying costs aren't important, but the only return on investment is national security, not profit.

Profit is important, having a self sufficient company that can fund projects on its own and then market them is how you get a proper MIC.

I'm taking from a national defence point of view, not defence contractors.

But it is about affordability. Cost effective systems that can be produced in tens of thousands and more and simple (yet effective) to continue production during sustained conflict is the new race.

It’s specifically important for economies like ours.

I agree with your point of being more preemptive, IMO on May 7th PAF should have let loose when Indians were assembling strike packages rather then firing after they had fired their munitions.

Because at the end of the day it's better to punch first to draw blood rather then wait for the enemy to punch first and risk getting yourself knocked out.
