As much as Indians love claiming that Pakistanis will pretend to be Indians overseas, I find that’s not the case.
I’ve been to Thailand and from anecdotal experiences interacting with the locals, they become less hostile when they find out that you’re Pakistani, a western Pakistani specifically. They become more respectful in their dealings.
I’m sure there are a few decent Indian tourists but I think majority of them are utter POS. Not spending enough money on drinks or prostitute in what the Indians are known for. Getting a Thai hooker to bring back the room but when she shows up it’s 5 Indian dudes wanting to split the bill. Same thing occurs at bars, these dudes will order one drink with 3-5 straws and just sit there ogling at women.
A part of it probably racism too I’m guessing.
Doesn’t help that over 90% of the visas given to South Asians were to India in the years I was there. So it’s not Pakistanis or Banglis. I was surprised to see a lot of Thai Muslims in Bangkok, also many Rohingya ones too.
Everyone can spot a westerner regardless of their ethnic makeup vs the others who show up. So there’s build in bias always working against South Asia, which the Indians have nuked for all South Asians.
