Looking for a cheap rental, I moved to Lincoln and MLK in Detroit. Right nextdoor to the infamous Jefferies Projects.

Gangbangers, for the most part left me alone.

Parked in the projects, entered the back door of my apartment building.

One day, asked the manager about the bloody mattress out back.

Couple up on the fourth floor. Wife discovered her husband was cheating on her. Stabbed her husband over a dozen times.

Fun times: One week the Detroit police did a stake out in front of the apartment building. A neighbor was wanted for murder.

As the police waited him out, we all went on with our lives.

Hoping no chaos as we come and go.

One mother told me the neighborhood was improving. Just a few years earlier, the only safe place for the kids to play outside was on top of the apartment buildings.

Several ranchers, old timers, stop in at my truck stop early every morning.

Told me today is shaping up to be the worst storm in decades.

Nearby, Claremore, birthplace of Will Rogers, had softball sized hail yesterday afternoon.

8:30am. Should be bright and sunny. Dark. One can feel it in the air. Something wicked comes this way.
