Today, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Cap Shield in Tantan, the Moroccan-American joint exercises "African Lion 2024" concluded with air and field military maneuvers in which units of the Royal Armed Forces and the US forces participated. In the presence of Mr. Team I, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, and General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Military Command in Africa (AFRICOM). The maneuvers identified the involvement of the Land Forces military units with the RAF F-16 fighters. Supported by artillery, joint field operations against a virtual enemy were carried out using several types of ammunition, using the U.S. Himars missile shell.

France recognizes the Moroccan Sahara
France decided to explicitly support the plan for autonomy in the Moroccan Sahara under the sovereignty of Rabat, and informed Algeria of this decision.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement today, Thursday, that “France informed the Algerian authorities of the content of this decision in recent days.”
