Russia Defense .net forum shut down by hosting company

Many of you might know of the forum. But www.russiadefense.net appears to be no more.

Members , where do we convene ?

Onlineguardian has banned " russiadefence.forumotion.com " hosted on forumotion.com due to the violation of terms of services.

The possible deletion reasons are as following :

• Violent or repulsive content
• Hateful or abusive content
• Defamatory content and / or affecting the integrity of a person
• Sexual and/or pornographic content
• Harmful and dangerous acts
• Copyright infringment
• Spam
• Phishing and/ or malware website
• Credit card fraud
• Hacking

If I recall it was hosted in New Zealand or something. Most likely it was shut down on a flimsy "violence" charge because of the war content and somebody was looking for a reason to shut it down because it is Russia.

It is understandable

We ran Google Ads on this website, but Google repeatedly contacted us to say that discussing the Russia–Ukraine war from a neutral perspective was not permitted under its terms and conditions. Rather than risk having the platform banned, I decided to remove the ads altogether, as we had no intention of stopping discussions on this subject.

So, running a Russian Defense forum is a difficult task to handle

Backman, Do you have any contact details for GarryB, or do you know if he plans to relaunch the RussiaDefence forum on a different platform? In March, they switched to that terrible Forumotion setup, which destroyed the forum after more than 15 years of existence.

No. Unfortunately I don't. I recall getting this forums address from there. And I thought maybe GaryB was a member here. But apparently he isn't. Maybe he is but is busy and hasn't logged in here.

When I went to log in awhile ago, I seen the message and I knew right away that the forum was taken down. So I just made this thread here.

I also did a Reddit and twitter search to see if GaryB or George posted anything on socials about what happened but I found nothing

Can't Russia set up something similar. I dislike all these ongoing bans against the Russians whether its overt line this or covert. The west shouldn't be at war with them.

Anyone can create a Forumotion forum https://www.forumotion.com/

It's free and takes 5 minutes. There are also other free hostings like ProBoards, FreeFlarum, self-hosted Discourse or Invision/XenForo hosted on an outside server.

Thanks. Maybe Biggazza knows something? I was really surprised they shut down that forum. It was one of the best in terms of the quality of discussion. I hope GarryB brings the RussiaDefence forum back at a new address. But I can't find a way to contact anyone—I've only come across you and Biggazza. I don't get what kind of moron at Forumotion banned it; the forum had survived for so many years.
