But I think Russia was never the real USA enemy.

In the peak oil era, the enemy of USA is the countries who waste more energy and resources, i.e: West Europe, and not Russia. And GCC and not Iran.

Conventional crude oil peak oil was in 2006, All-kind oil peak oil was in 2018.

Simply there is no enough energy and raw materials for so many developed countries, so USA is dropping them.

Think about it. Back then countries used to sell land because they cannot make money out of thin air. Nowadays nobody sells land because they print money.
