Putin will do whatever to save face. All he has to do is continue to throw more men into the meat grinder until Trump forces a peace agreement where he keeps some of the captured land and hails the SMO a success.

I think Russia has stabilised the axis along the Bakhmut-Soledar and if they can take Siversk to make that front more stable and already they are building the supplies lines to Chasiv Yar they can then focus on a fully forced armoured thrust towards both Sloviansk and Kramatorsk
Russians are great at grabbing massive lands when peace talks start and even 1 day before they are implemented
maybe they can grab some big cities towards the end

Zelensky is hellbent on sending all the Ukrainian men he can catch to the meatgrinder. He wants revenge on Ukrainians for slaughtering millions of Jews in the early 1940s. This conflict be going on for a long long time.
