Sweden will transfer to Ukraine two of its Saab 340 AEW&C long-range radar reconnaissance aircraft, also called ASC 890. The aircraft will coordinate the work of Ukrainian F-16 fighter pilots. It is worth noting that training the crew of a Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft takes a long time and the aircraft may not be handed over soon; perhaps the aircraft crews were trained in advance. Also, for full operation, the plane must rise to a height of about 6 kilometers, which is quite dangerous in Ukraine. The Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft was developed on the basis of the Saab 340B passenger aircraft and made its first flight in 1994; Sweden also produces a similar AWACS aircraft, the Saab 2000 AEW&C, based on the Saab 2000 aircraft. The twin-engine turboprop aircraft Saab 340 AEW&C is equipped with an Ericsson Microwave System Erieye PS radar. 890/ASC-890 with active grille developed in 1985. The PS-890 Erieye radar allows you to detect fighters, helicopters, cruise missiles and targets at sea, at a range of 300-400 kilometers, when the aircraft is flying at an altitude of 6096 meters. The aircraft system is compatible with on-board systems and NATO standards. The aircraft crew, including radar operators, consists of 6 people, patrol time is about 5 hours.

Good to know

Asked what he would do to stop Russian invasion of Ukraine. Trump says :“I would bomb Moscow if I was president.“

wonder for how long that airplane last if operated by Ukrainian and not by Sweden personnel.

How are you any different? He's just posting material from the Russian point of view. If anyone does that it's "spamming", but when you or anyone else posts from the West point of view it's "informative posting" is it?

How's your predictions going by the way? You've been saying for over 2 years now that the Russians will "run out of ammo in a few months" so funny the way you keep shifting your timelines.

Supaboy is a well known troll, and the mods know it. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been banned since 2014.

My predictions have gone very well outside of the amount of territory I thought Ukraine would gain in it counteroffensive.

And I never said Russia would run out of ammo in a few months. What I did say was there stockpiles of missiles would be extremely degraded. And that’s true today. Almost all there missiles are brand new production. They have a strategic reserve but that’s it. They can’t sustain any missile campaign anymore.

Russia has strategically lost this war. 500K dead and wounded, 16,000 equipment losses, and little territory gained. And there’s no end in sight.
