Pointless having a peace summit when 2 of the major players not present.

The summit is not for "talking to Russia", the summit gear more toward NATO membership

Ukraine is going to ask for NATO membership as security guarantee before any talk to Russia can even be considerate. Any talk without NATO membership officially on the table is not going to entertained because it would just be an open invitation of Ukraine war 3.0 sometime down the line as there are absolutely no trust left for each side to believe on what the other side said.

Ukraine is going to need to talk to NATO partners for NATO membership first, once that is on the table, then they can start talking to Russia about how this war is going to end, which land they will cede or if they will cede any, that's depends on the situation on the ground then, and then the negotiation can start. If NATO membership is not on the table, then there are no point to talk to Russia at all, because that just mean they are going to try it again 5 or 6 years down the road once they recover from this war, and the Ukrainian won't know if US and the West are going to stand for them, and Russia may not be this retarded as they do back in 2022.

Whatever happened to the Sumy front? Is that still even a thing? I know Kharkiv front completely failed but that should not stop them from failing in Sumy either.

Sumy were never a front except if and if they made the break thru back in May the Russian may put the troop in Sumy down and exploit the situation. If they were, then it would be for encircling Kharkiv.

But it probably not going to do anything now, and the latest intel suggest their support element have pulled. You can't jump off with 20,000 troop, and now Russia-Ukraine northern border is open game for Western weapon, it's really pointless to stay. I would expect Russia to withdraw from Kharkiv before winter, otherwise it would be very expose during.

Russian fanboys dismiss coming F-16's with retorts of "Russian fighters with R-37M's will shoot down F-16's" yet outdated Soviet era Ukraine mig-29's and SU-27's managed to get JDAM range of Russian border without being challenged by Russian fighters armed with mighty r37m. Once US/Ukraine destroys all s300/400 IADS in Crimea, Ukraine F-16's will be able to JDAM just about all Russian bases in Crimea. The VKS has decided to take a vacation during war.
