Ukraine will likely be the first pro West country that lost to an actual nation state since the start of US global hegemony, following Afghanistan, the first US ally to lose against a non state actor.

If Ukraine fell, then trust towards US ability to make it's allies stay afloat will be questioned.

Russia has already strategically lost this war. Russia is unable to even control the Donbas, a scaled down goal after their retreat from Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson.

500K casualties, almost 17K+ equipment losses and burning throughout their Soviet stocks with no end in sight.

Russia has lost

Russia has gained 600 sq kms from November-June. 7 months

To put that in perspective, Ukraine gained over 12,000 sq kms in 3 weeks during its Kharkiv offensive. Russia is unable to make strategic breakthroughs.

It’s a long way to Kabul.

There was a big difference in Afghanistan back then Soviet Union did not have strategic interests other than shoring up fellow communists. But Ukraine is a matter of life and death Therefore they have the support of the people. Plus Soviet economy is a basket case. But the Russian economy is thriving

Soviet Union was isolated But Russia had BRIC and China at its back!

CHICAGO, January 9, 2024 — Most Russians see the war in Ukraine as a defense against threats from NATO and the West and report little personal effect from the conflict. A recent poll of the Russian public conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago finds little material improvement in the quality of life for many Russians since the war, but not a significant deterioration in overall economic conditions despite international sanctions.

Most Russians approve of President Vladimir Putin’s job performance, and a majority plan to vote for his reelection this year. The survey’s findings underscore the complex interplay between geopolitical considerations and domestic concerns, as Russians grapple with the ramifications of the conflict in Ukraine.

Russian military personnel spoke about the use of the Scorpion-M wheeled platform in Ukraine. Typically, the Scorpion-M robotic platform is used for transport purposes, but in this case, the wheeled drone was loaded with explosives and sent to a Ukrainian army stronghold. The route of movement of the robotic platform is adjusted from the FPV drone.

The first Ukrainian anti-submarine corvette "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" F211 entered sea trials, we previously talked about it. The ship was built according to the design of the Turkish Ada-class anti-submarine corvettes, project MILGEM. The ship is due to join the Ukrainian fleet in 2024; a total of two ships will be built at a cost of $256 million. The ship is armed with a 76 mm OTO Melara Super Rapid gun, two 12.7 mm Aselsan STAMP machine guns, a 35 mm Aselsan Gokdeniz anti-aircraft artillery mount and a MICA VC air defense system with 16 missiles. Anti-submarine weapons are represented by 324 mm torpedo tubes "Mark 32 Surface Vessel Torpedo Tubes". The ship is armed with Harpoon or Atmaca anti-ship missiles. Armament may change in the future. The ship has a speed of up to 29 knots, with a cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles, a cruising endurance of 10 days, with supplies of 21 days. It is possible to have an S-70B Seahawk helicopter. Displacement corvette "Getman Ivan Mazepa" 2300 tons, power plant - one gas turbine and two diesel engines. The ship's crew is 93 people.

How are they going to deliver it to Ukraine? The Istanbul strait is no longer accessible for the war participants.

I guess it will never be delivered to Ukraine, especially because there will likely be no Ukraine in the future. It will sit on pier waiting for another country to buy it.

USSR was isolated? Ever heard of the Warshaw pact?
Of course the russians love war in Ukraine. That’s war other people. As long as Putin delivers cheap anti western propaganda, cheap anti NATO propaganda, cheap foods, cheap gas, they are happy with Putin.

I have said a few times this is a can not lose war for Russia. They will throw everything they have to win and if it comes to it tactical nukes. What win looks like I am not sure, maybe annexing the donbas and eastern regions along with ensuring Ukraine doesnt join Nato. The latter will be hard so I can see Russia becoming more aggressive and arming anti western countries and groups.

This war will make the world a dangerous place, NATO could have ensured this never happened had they stayed neutral with Ukraine instead of supporting the topplement of a pro russia government and alarming Russia by offering Nato membership. NATO knew exactly what they were doing and are also responsble for this mess.

Finlands PM says the Chinese can end the war with a phone call, i say Biden can end it with a phone call. The Europeans are so stupid when Trump comes watch him force a ceasefire.
