That is the price of rejecting the Minsk agreement. In the Minsk agreement, Russia only insists on keeping Crimea since it is historically Russia and was only given to Ukraine during the Khruschev reign in the 1950s. Besides it is the main base of the Black Sea fleet. In Donetsk, Russia demanded a referendum to decide their fate. Seem reasonable and Ukraine kept most of the provinces. And of course Ukraine's neutrality. That is not a bad condition

After WWII, the Soviet Union occupied Austria, and then the West demanded Soviet withdrawal. Soviet agrees on the condition of keeping Austria neutral. Austria agrees and the Soviets keep their word to withdraw from Austria. The same with Findland Life is not so bad in both Austria and Finland, have kept their democrazy, territory, and independence!

Now after paying for blood money for the war, the price of peace just got more expensive. Yes, it is hard now for Russia to give back those territories. Now is the time for negotiation or Ukraine is going to lose more territories

From a US strategic perspective, the Ukrainian government stands and will be aligned with the US/West for generations now. An US forces may even be stationed in Ukraine post war.

The Russian Army is being annihilated. 500,000 dead and wounded, 17,000+ equipment losses. Russia has pulled at least 40% of all of its stored armor from storage. They’ve pulled 50% of its artillery. What remains in storage is ancient and large portions in terrible condition. An there’s no end in sight.

By the end of this war, the Russian Army will have been thoroughly crushed. Thats a big strategic victory for the US.

Well, we are not europeans like russians/ukrainians/western europeans/americans to act as a mediator.

It is not our interest nor our priority.

The russo-ukrainian war may last more than a decade, who knows.

But one thing for sure is that both parties will eventually resume the truce when they all become exhausted.
