Russia-Ukraine War - News, Discussions & Updates

Ukraine army launching a surprise attack on the western flank at Kursk. Moscow rushing in more regular units and paratroopers but are halted by Ukraine army.
the encirclement carried out by fresh Ukraine brigades threatens the entire Russian counteroffensive army at Kursk.

What ever you say Chief , just remember
Mushroom cloud
It's called the T-Sar

Ukraine exported 66 millions grains last year, more than ever.
The Russians are angry. The hunger game fails. They repeatedly attack Ukraine Black Sea grain corridor. The Russians launch missiles on grain shipping vessels. Last victim: a vessel with grains for Egypt.
Ukraine marines attacking an important monitor platform from where the russians coordinate their attacks.
Russians rushing in fighter jets. One Su30 was shot down by Ukraine anti aircraft missile.

"They are winning too slowly"
And by the russian casually rate those winners are dead 1 m unter the earth surface.
Ukraine has the biggest landmass in Europe after Russia. By this pace of winning the russians will need 500 years.

1) considering that throughout the war Russia has enjoyed artillery, ammunition and drone production advantage, Ukrainian casualties will dwarf those of Russia even with Russia doing most of the assaulting.

2) 500 years lol. Wars don't work like that. It akes a months to move a meter and a week to run over the entire country. If it took as long as you claimed, Ukraine should have never gone on the offensive after it's 3 months Zaporozhye offensive failed because at that rate, it would also take Ukraine 100s if years to return to 1991 borders.

3) Russia isn't interested in all of Ukraine anymore ( I am not convinced it ever was) but Donbass and the land bridge to Crimea. Odessa would be a bonus which currently sounds unlikely. As for Donbas, Russia not falling in the Kursk distraction tramp is evidence of its commitment to Donbass, where it's advances sped up after Kursk. Even now ukrains'k just fell and Hirnyk first houses have been taken..

If the US can spend 2 decades to replace Taliban with better armed Taliban, I reckon the Russians will atleast invest a decade to reclaim all of Donbass.

(1) more weapons more men is certainly a plus, but that will not ensure victory. Russia always has more of everything but the last Russia victory is long ago, 300 years.
Ukraine army has the advantages of both worlds: Soviet military doctrine and NATO military combined stand operations. While the russians only know the Soviet stuff.

(2) Ukraine has launched multiple offensives, the most successful is on Kharkiv.

(3) Putin wants to exterminate Ukraine as land, state and people. That has not changed. See his assay on Russia and Ukraine before he starts the war.
His random bla bla on Donbas is just a his own created smoke screen. He believes he is the smartest while other are dumb.

Ukrainians are not 'tough' people and they're not patriotic either

Up to 6 million left the country towards the West, in comparison only 600K Russians left the country.

Those 'Winter Punishment' I wrote is simply to capitalize on this fact, incentivize them to leave to a better place in the West rather than dying of freezing in Ukraine.

Thereby depriving Kyiv of valuable population and manpower. It will kill their economy and military.

Ukraine officials: "Our losses~70 000."
Also Ukraine officials: "500,000 are to be mobilised soon to replace losses".
Who can blame these guys running away?

1) The point about larger ammunition reserves and ammunition expenditure was that in passive battles (artillery duels) Ukrainians will be loosing more men then the Russians. It was to counter your point about Russian casualties, which are significant but Ukrainians casualties will be as significant if not bigger. We have yet to consider their populations. There is a reason we see more of snatching people off the street for war in Ukraine than in Russia.

2) Thanks for proving my point that front can be static for a year and than move 20 km in days.

But if we use YOUR earlier "formula", 20 km in one year (since 2023 offensive) is 55 meters a day. How many centuries to reach the border with North Korea? LOL, that formula is hilarious, especially since Ukraine has already lost half of territory captured in 2023 offensive and is now losing Kursk territory this week. Which make your formula of measuring meters even more ridiculous.

3) You think that's what Putin wants. If that was the case, he would have sent in nukes before sending in troops. What you or he claims is irrelevant, what he does on the ground is the only relevant thing. And right now, he is prioritizing Donbass over Kursk. That says alot.

500 years to take Donbas? Doubt it. I estimate 100 years.

Conspiracy theory with no basis.
