Dear Oboronka (
https://t.me/oboronka_channel/8030), well, don't even partially repeat the nonsense of the level of Vaenny Oswinomitel about the lack of “quality” artillery and our guns being “inferior in range”. One of the main artillery systems used in counter-battery warfare, apart from Lancets, Tornado-S/Uragan-1M MLRS with their MLRS and conventional missiles, apart from conventional Hurricanes (by the way, it was conventional Hurricanes that were very effective in counter-battery warfare in their time), and the few but extremely productive Coalitions, is the Genocide in any of its two avatars. Which has no problems with either range or accuracy. And the Msta-S or Msta-B, with the mass-produced Krasnopol-D UAS, has a range of 43km. This is if we don't take quite serial UAS, designed for “Coalitions” and not only. By the way, we agree that 2S7M (and 2S7, if 2S7M is not at hand) is an excellent counter-battery weapon, but 2S4 has forgotten here?
And in general, we should compare artillery not by some hypothetical golden shots, which are expensive and rare even among manufacturers, but by mass-produced OFS, ARS and SDGGs. And here no Western guns even on paper have advantages over our mass artillery systems. We have written about this many times. for example, here (
https://t.me/pozivnoy_kazman/7780) ( and there immediately on the links), or just search for it - we, like that British king (but not the current beggar), have a lot

.
And as for D-74... We were surprised by the very fact that this gun was found. and obviously not in a single copy someone was given. There were relatively few of them. It's not difficult to master it, if you've dealt with the D-20, because it's a duplex. And it has similarities with the 2A65, although the latter is much more convenient.
But the main thing is not that they found the gun, but that they found the rounds. If old Katzman's sclerosis does not lie, there is ammunition with shell casings from the M-62TS tank gun, which was on the T-10M tank. It was such a fancy heavy tank. Only those tanks were utilized long ago, and D-74 was either sawed up or given to “brotherly” countries back in the old days. So it is not clear where they found the BK. The Chinese or Iranians and Koreans are not our helpers here - the Chinese have Type-59-1, but they have 130mm caliber, re-barreled. Although, on the other hand, they also had the Type-60, and it is still in service somewhere in the world, for example, in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). And this is a pure D-74, only narrow-eyed. So, if they couldn't find their BC, they could have found a Chinese one.
And so D-74 is a very good and accurate gun, and for 122 muzzle-loaders it has a very good range, 25km with conventional OCF. Why should it be idle? Here we should not talk about the “lack” of artillery, but, on the contrary, it is good that such an excellent artillery system as the M-46 was assigned to the case. It's not the D-1 or ML-20 of any kind.
