Mediazona have named atleast 77k dead Russia soldiers, Wagna chief in Jun 23 said 120k. We are a year on.The numbers are inflated. Realistically it's only about 30,000 KIA on both sides per year. The scale of the war is very small.
Actual dead I would give a range of 77k to 250k. That is a massive loss of life. If I had been in Putins place I would have nuked Ukraine a few times for total surrender rather than take such losses.
However Russians have a history where loss of men and equipment does not stop them. They lost over 4million against the Nazi as defeat meant the end of them. Russian lesders see this war an existential threat and will be willing to lose more men.
Ukraine on the other hand in Aug 23 NYT reported 70,000 dead more than a year ago. I do not see how Ukrainian losses will be less than Russias so the range of dead is likely similar.
