Trump Halts All Military Aid To Ukraine As Zelensky Feud Intensifies: Report

Update(1858ET): There's been contradictory reports all day, and at one point in the afternoon a firm Trump denial, but Monday evening Bloomberg is reporting that the US has paused all military aid to Ukraine amid the tit-for-tat open feuding with Zelensky.

"President Donald Trump ordered a pause to all military aid to Ukraine, turning up the heat on Volodymyr Zelenskiy just days after an Oval Office blowup with the Ukrainian president left the support of his country’s most important ally in doubt," the publication writes in a breaking story.

"The US is pausing all current military aid to Ukraine until Trump determines the country’s leaders demonstrate a good-faith commitment to peace, according to a senior Defense Department official, who asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations," Bloomberg adds.

For now this is only the usual anonymous official, and while it could be premature (as meetings "mulling" a stoppage take place), it sure looks like that's where things are headed.

"The official said all US military equipment not currently in Ukraine would be paused, including weapons in transit on aircraft and ships or waiting in transit areas in Poland," the report notes further.

If so, this marks a monumental shift in Washington policy over the last three years of war in Eastern Europe.

I wonder how this would impact all the crap Ukraine breaks that gets shipped to Poland for the Americans to fix.

The US should not only suspend this, but also withdraw troops from Europe and cease all intelligence assistance.

I followed a discussion. one of the participants did a quick math.

the US has a population of 335 million, a Gdp of 30 trillion USD.
Russia 144 million people, Gdp 2 trillion USD.

Europe with 500 million people, 22 trilion USD can´t defend itself against Russia?
assuming without US the europeans are helpless, sorry that´s beyond ridiculous.

peace or war is all about mentality.
Which only proves Trump's point, Europe does not deserve to be defended and spending American military resources in Europe is useless, after all, the richest countries in the world cannot stop the "Second Largest Army in Ukraine", meaning they are a burden, not partners in building the continent's security.

Send European troops as 'peacekeepers' is already decided, matter of months.
The less error will turn the proxy war into a direct EU/Russia war.
It is not decided because any peacemaking will necessarily have to include the Americans who are not willing to do this. It is just empty words from the European leadership that does absolutely nothing, a bunch of whiners trying to be relevant in a world where Europe is no longer as relevant as it should be.

Europe is over.

Agree with Kofman, loss of US military aid will be less felt at the front, and more in the long range strike and air defense capabilities in the medium term.

Ukraine achieved fires parity with Russia over the last 6 months as Ukraine has rapidly ramped its drone production and Western shell production has ramped.

Loss of HIMARS and Patriot capability will be felt over the medium term(6+ months) as those capabilities are currently irreplaceable. The US did front load those capabilities at the end of Biden’s term, so Ukraine should be fine for now, but in 6+ months it becomes a real problem.
It has not achieved parity, even with American aid. If Ukraine depends on itself with European aid that only fulfills half of what it promises, the situation of Ukrainian artillery will only tend to become even more serious, because Europe is incapable of supporting the Ukrainian artillery effort, whether with barrels or shells.

I'm going to make a provocation here:

There is no doubt that the current International Order was created by the Americans, a creation that was a mandatory participation of the US, but since the end of the Cold War, with the transition from the unipolar world to the current world in conflagration, there is no longer any way for the Americans to sustain the same collaborative effort that they had in the past until recently, it will be necessary to reprioritize American alliances and presences in the world for more urgent matters, Russia is not and will never be a threat to the Americans again, so if Europe feels threatened by Russia, Europe itself must be able to ensure its security, then NATO in its current form no longer works for the Americans and this has been a statement since 2011 by Gates, at least as far as I can trace it. This is hardly an individual stance of the current administration, but unfortunately the US still has some thinkers and strategists still thinking about the Cold War.

Ukraine is producing 200K+ FPV drones per MONTH. The US front loaded artillery and Europe has ramped shell production.

Those combined fires have achieved parity with the Russians. It’s not 2022-early 2024 anymore.

What's Europe actually got left? All former Warsaw pact gear has been sent to Ukraine. Almost all Cold War era armour and ACVS has been sent along with least 70% of ammo stocks.
