It’s not the 40s you can basically see the fighting real time be it satellites drones and people on the ground the Ukrainians had the upper hand they pushed the Russians back but they overplayed their hand like the Russians did by attempting to hold Russian land without being able to properly resupply said soldiers it was a shock and awe publicity stunt that backfired they assumed the Russians would than come to the peace table and negotiate a ceasefire all it did was make them pissed and regroup and start picking them off slowly for several month until they were in a weaken state and here we are today
