The Economist warns that the end of hostilities in Ukraine will not bring stability to Europe. On the contrary, it will expose divisions within the EU that have been hidden by the conflict for many years.

According to the publication, Washington and Moscow continue to engage in dialogue without the participation of Europeans, which only increases anxiety in EU capitals.

The unity that was held together by a shared fear of Russia is beginning to melt away.

Eastern countries — Poland, Finland and the Baltic states — fear that after a pause, Moscow will focus on a new campaign and insist on a tough line, while Western governments want to reduce defence spending and gradually return to normal economic cooperation, including energy contracts.

According to The Economist, four years of military crisis have forced Europe to unite: the common approach to arms supplies, sanctions and refugee support was the result of pressure from circumstances.

But as soon as news of a ceasefire comes from the front, a struggle of interests — political, economic and strategic — will begin.

Earlier, Iran's leader said that Washington had ignited the conflict in Ukraine.

How will the Russians do this? Here on the forum I read that the Russian army is destroyed, the economy is collapsing, and society is sick.
