Russia - Ukraine war part ll. News and Discussions

Some info on performance of latest Russian antidrone systems, this time the Citadel automated 30mm cannon with pre-programmed ammo (each shot is coded to detonate at a pre-calculated distance to generate a cloud of shrapnel to damage/destroy the target).

As reprted by Izvestia, a ZAK-30 Citadel destroyed a Flamingo FP5 cruise missile using just two 30 mm shells with programmable detonation.

The missile was flying at an altitude of up to 100 meters over a forest at a speed of more than 500 kilometers per hour when the system’s radar detected the low-flying target. The crew chief ordered the system to open fire, and two shots were enough to destroy the missile, the report said.

The shells detonated approximately 1 to 1.5 meters from the missile, releasing a concentrated stream of fragments toward the target without requiring a direct hit. The missile’s warhead exploded in midair, and its debris fell into the forest. No damage or casualties were reported.

I guess this must be one of those Soviet-legacy system cuz Pootin doesn't make anything new... :ROFLMAO:

Russian reality >> NAFO nonsense

destroyed a Flamingo FP5 cruise missile
Correction - the video doesn't show an FP5 but a small prop-powered drone. I suspect the video is a combo of stock pics and unrelated test-range footage against target drones.

Footage shows Russian FPV drones striking operators from the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Army. The operators were spotted while in the process of launching their own drones. The video was captured by operators from the 3rd Army Corps of Russia’s Southern Group of Forces. The location and the specific models of the FPV drones used have not been disclosed.

From the UAF - evacuation of a soldier using a drone (the thumbnail looks quite funny to me):
