Interesting post from Piotr about Putin's upcoming visit to India:

The main target of the Su-57's PR campaign in Dubai a week ago was India. The photo shows a special presentation of the fighter jet for Indian media. In three days, Putin begins his visit to India, where he will offer the Su-57. India has already rejected the Su-57 once.

And even though I see it more as yet another desperate attempt by Russia to show that it's still around, even if there's not much evidence of that anymore... I can't imagine India will go along with it again. However there is indeed a lot of pressure from the Indian public, is that really a solution?

I think, with the huge push the Russians are making, theres a solid chance...

We overlook the SSJ deal with HAL, but i felt like that was nothing more than a carrot and stick approach to further entice HAL/indians into being pushed over the line further

Also, do note, the Russians now seem to be very willing to do whatever the Indians want, like, offering production of the R37M (a very cunning move), suggesting that the SU30MKI line at nashik could be transitioned very easily to produce SU57,

On top of that, the Russians could pitch it from the angle that they can use it as a stepping stone to amca, an almost 'beta' program for the AMCA, indian avionics etc on a russian airframe perhaps, i think there is room. Plus, dont forget, bribes make the world go round.

I also think ambiguity on the J35 buy from Pakistan has the IAF on edge, hence why this SU57/FGFA import itch has begun, we didnt see this being as big of a deal prior to the j35 announcement/rumours, it looks like something will have to be imported at some point, AMCA is a pipe dream for a few decades to say the least, will the IAF sit idle while its neighbours move next gen? hmm

Let's put it this way, you can certainly argue about humour, but I find it rather funny to just think about it after years in which China has slowly but steadily passed Russia technologically in actually (almost) everything dramatically, but you still regularly heard wishful dreams of Russian fans, „China will certainly buy the Su-57, because it is superior to the J-20 in all respects“, funny that it actually makes much more sense to think the other way around ... Russia could buy J-20 and J-35, the Y-20B is more modern than every Il-78, KJ-3000 and Kj-600 AEW, and even more clearly with Type 075/076 LAHs and the Fujian!?

But as you said, Russia would rather starve or suffocate than swallow its pride and buy Chinese weapons.
It is understable. Russia is nearly a tenth part of Chinese population. And I think you're wrong. Russia has bought without hesitation italians MRAPs from IVECO and cooperated with Aermacchi for the Yak130. So in the future Russia would purchase Chinese technology without any doubt.

Russia already assembles Chinese cars domestically. There's no reason to suggest Russia will never assemble Chinese planes domestically.
